Andy, try buying a tin of Snappy Tom ( cat food, sardines or pilchards) and sreading a bit here and there on the branches of trees where the Kingfisher frequents. You will catch him one day, I am sure.

The Kingfisher is a protected bird listed under Schedule 1 of The Wildlife & Countryside Act 1981 which also includes laws on photographing such birds, especially if you come across where they may be nesting. As Wolf mentioned earlier, patience is the key---to wait for these birds to come to you away from their nesting area, as luck may, or may not, have it. Good luck Andy; look forward to seeing a photo of him, or her.

Did they taste nice though Harry? The yabbies that is.

Sorry I missed some posts re yabbies Peter.  No I didn't eat them, I put them back, we have a large pond.  When i bought this property over twenty years ago there was a 100 year old mulberry tree where i wanted to extend the lawn.  I pulled it up with the tractor, and relocated  it.  But what to do with the hole? I couldn't move it Laughing so made it into a 16ft.x 10ft. pond...

I didn't know that! What if you take a photo in your garden, would that be ok?
