PS, I love your photo of the Blues Bros.  LOL. And I will read your article as soon as I can.  I visited N. Yks last year and can't believe how wonderful the north of England is.  I've checked out a little of your county too, very pretty.
The (often frozen) North of England has cleaned up a lot since mining went into decline in the 1960's.  The old 'pit heaps' have been remodelled, reseeded and finally reclaimed.  The whole area has had a clean up, with regeneration of towns and cities. There's stil a long way to go, but hopefully we'll get there.  Until we do, we're content to know that northerners are amongst the most friendly people in the world - a bit like those who are lucky enpugh to be citizens of POE!

Not exactly! We both have hospital visits tomorrow for X-Rays and Ultrasound Scans to see if they can finally resolve our problems. We can but hope and pray for a good result in each case. You take care Ruth, and with luck we will update you all in a few days with a message to say it was all in our mind!
Sorry you're not well.  I hope your appointment went okay and you got some good news.  I'll be thinking about you both, today especially.  All the best.

Sorry to be late Alan, but I am sleeping while you are awake.

Welcome from me in Australia.Smile

I've got to ask, otherwise I'll burst.  How do you know that I'm ever awake?  You should see me when my B12 runs down - I'm due for a shot at the vets tomorrow - believe me, action man I'm not!

If you moved to England Catherine, you would be an ex-pat Yank. POM is slang for English.

Thanks Alan, the good news is they haven't found anything nasty so we are grateful for that. We still have to solve the problems, but they seem not to weigh as heavy. Thanks again for your thoughts.

A big thank you to everyone for the wonderful welcome.  I've just got in sfter a History Group meeting.  I had to go because I founded the group, so it might have looked a little bad otherwise.

A very belated welcome to you Alan. Embarassed I am not sure how I missed this thread!

I too host a museum/history group and we get together to explore different museums and historical sites around New England. Yep, I am one of those pesky Americans.Wink
