Hi Ian! Welcome from me too. Am I right in assuming that you lost your left leg in the accident from your avatar? My brother lost his right one in a car accident in March of 1983. Also his left eye. The whole left side of his face was crushed to fragments. He did die for a few minutes and came back. Would like to hear about what happened. Look forward to chatting with you! Smile

Hi Catherine,

Thanks for your message. You are correct in assuming that I lost my leg in an accident. I was on a motorbike and I was hit turning right off a dual carriageway in Pattaya, Thailand, a pickup truck didn't stop for the red light. The first thing that I knew about it was when I came out of my coma three weeks later, that was almost eight years ago now.

Now it is just a bit of a  nuisance at timesUndecided.

Cheers for now

I know what you mean. Do you still have phantom pain? I don't think my brother ever got over the emotional part. He has to drink beer every night, I think to help him sleep.

I am so glad it was only your leg. It must be a pain to take the thing off and on all the time. My brother, Bill, has to take it off every afternoon for a rest. Tongue out

Hi Catherine,

I do get phantom pain, but phantom itch in my foot is much worse and it lasts a lot longer Undecided. I drink beer every night, but I did that even before I was legless Smile.

At my computer here, I don't need my leg and I have my room arranged so that I never have to put it on again until I go outside. It is my payday today, so I have to put it on soon and go to the ATM, the nearest ATM to here is near the supermarket, so I can top up with beer at the same time Tongue out.

Cheers for now

I had a mate who lost a leg years ago. I saw him scratching his false leg one day and asked him why. He said, "Believe it or not, it stopped the itch".  Have you ever tried that Ian?
