I knew a lady who lost a leg during the war. She was in hospital once, on the loo, she forgot she only had one leg (even though it had been gone for many years) and she got up, fell down, split the stump, and ended up extending her stay by a couple of weeks because of the infection she picked up from the loo floor.

Just thought I'd share.

Thanks for all of your messages. Sorry that I am late in replying today, it is my payday today, so I decided to go out for the first time in three weeks and get legless in another way Laughing.

The way that I eventually ease any phantom itch is to massage the stump, because I know that it is the nerves in the stump that are causing it.

Thanks for your story Sue, but I usually know if my leg is on or not, so that definitely would not happen to me, even after a few beers Tongue out.

Cheers for now all
