Thanks for the welcome Peter and Mary Jo.  Your project sounds really fun, Mary Jo.  How long has your family here over here?  All my family is from Ireland.  I went through my Ireland stage in my 20s, but this thing with England is a true love affair.  Looking forward to some great chats.

Mary Ellen:  I too am an American, who longs to live in England.  I would trade my new house for a thatched roof cottage, with flowers all around.  I have learned, through many years of family research, that nearly all my families came from England, so I am have many English genes.  I have decided to pinpoint all the shires where they lived and make a map of it.  It is becoming an interesting project.  I am a new member too.

Hi again Maryellen. I'm so glad you made it to the forum and thanks for your email response to me via the POE members contact form. You know, reading your introduction actually put a lump in my throat, a tear to my eyes. Your kind words about Chris and Sarah who own POE, the love shown over POE members photographs, the fact that you love England as you do but are afraid to fly! I hope you don't mind me mentioning that of course, but let me assure you that you are not alone because many have the same fear. Although I don't have statistics right now you are many, many times safer in the sky than you are on the road, and there are ways to dispell the fear, or certainly help anyway! So all is not lost Maryellen and you may get here one day. Tell you what, if you do make it I will personally guide you on the C S Lewis Tour of Oxford which I operate from here in Oxford. What more incentive could you want? Your introduction also made me think about how some in this beautiful country of ours work to destroy it, they just don't appreciate what they are part of do they? Anyway I am sure there will be many members encouraging you to get on a plane to England and no doubt somebody will find the actual statistics - Paul? Continue to enjoy the site Maryellen.

Welcome Maryellen, I hope you manage to overcome your fear and visit England one day. Maybe try hypnotherapy - my sister used to be a hypnotherapist and she had some great results helping people overcome their fears. I have been lucky enough to visit your wonderful country once so I hope that one day I will be able to come back as there is so much more of it to explore.

My wife used to be afraid of flying too. When we went to the Canairy Islands, she had more than a few drinks before boarding the plane. But after we took off,she loved it. We have been on four flights now, and she loved every one of them. If you cant get up the courage to fly, there is always the ship.

Sorry, must have missed this one, welcome to POE Mary Ellen, flying doesn't bother me, the longest flight i've taken is a 10hour one to Beijing in China, it was the boredom that got to me.
