Frogmore Road is a narrow road between Otterton and East Budleigh. Between the River Otter and Frogmore Road are fields that collect rain water and make lakes.

Sundown on Hayes Wood

Sir Walter Raleigh was born at Hayes Barton and Hayes Wood is at the top of the hill near there. The sun was setting and blazes it's light through the trees.

Panorama from Sleap Hill

Sleap Hill (Devonish for steep hill) leads from Otterton to the top, nearer to East Budleigh. Looking back we see L to R - Peak Hill, High Peak and Bicton Obelisk (the point of Bicton).

A buzzard taking flight.

The buzzard had been sitting on the top of the pole. I was on my way to Otterton for a coffe and he caught my eye.

Budleigh Brook line of trees

Otter Valley from Frogmore

Frogmore Road starts in East Budleigh and on a sharp bend has a lane leading to the River Otter. The view over the Otter Valley has a row of poplar trees in a field. Green trees within green fields.

East Budleigh's lonely tree

The track off Frogmore Lane looks out over the Otter Valley. One tree seems to stand lonely yet surrounded by others.

The lane from East Budleigh to Budleigh is hilly, narrow and winding. This sweet chestnut tree will be providing a stopping place in a few weeks when the chestnuts start falling and then the feasting will begin.

As you walk from East Budleigh to Budleigh Salterton and look left you get a pleasantly framed view of the Otter Valley. You can't actually see the River Otter but the trees, fields and hills are instantly recognisable.

View over Otter Valley

From the main road connecting East Budleigh and Budleigh Salterton there are splendid panoramas of Otter Valley but you can't see the River Otter for the dense trees lining the route. A lovely view nonetheless.

The brook runs down the side of the road in Lower East Budleigh. This means that all the houses need a bridge for access.

The lane to East Budleigh

We frequently walk to East Budleigh along a back lane called Tidwell Lane. This lane gives splendid views over green trees before reaching East Budleigh. Even more reason to use the back lanes.The building in the shot is Bicton College which used to be Bicton Hall.
