Hull Veterans weekend July 2013 They had some birds of prey at the park this year with a number of birds of which this 'hawk' was just one. They did tell me which model it was but i didn't write it down. But I'm sure one of you 'eagle-eyed' bird people will set my mind at rest. They were offering ... hold a bird for £1 or hold a bird and get a A4 photo (within minutes) for £5. And they seemed to be doing a steady trade. Hull Veterans weekend July 2013 Another view of the farm wagon. This is really good weekend for all the family well worth earmarking if you in the area end of July. Mainly based around military re-enactments but plenty of other interest as well. Hull Veterans weekend July 2013 One of smaller 'non military' exhibits in the park. The monkey still worked perfectly. Put some coins on his hand and he would tip them into the bowl. Great Spotted Woodpeckers Very hasty shot of a pair of Great Spotted Woodpeckers that frequent my garden. Female left, male right. This is the first time I've seen them together and just by chance the long lens was already on the box brownie. A very rushed shot, technically quite poor AND shot through a very dirty window! Shot towards the top end of the 70-300 but resting on the window frame to aid stability. But all in all not a bad effort for a grab shot. Woodpecker 2 13-1-13 Had the lens resting in the corner of the window frame for stability and the end of the lens barrel must have been touching the glass because as I rattled off a dozen shots or so he must have heard the shutter through the glass!!! and turned to look right down the lens......amazing This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 500D |

Fox Saw this chap out of the corner of my eye whilst photographing the woodpecker. There has been a family of foxes in the public park behind our house for as long as I can remember and we have been there 18 years! Hull East Park Veterans War Weekend 2012 Traditional fairground entertainment. Part of the entertainment on offer at this great weekend in the local park. Largely based round re-enactment sets from the American Civil War through to World War II.
