Gate to Alcock Tarn A wider view from the gate half way up to Alcock Tarn. Both gate posts are in reality quite upright. The distortion to the right post is caused by the extreme angle of the lens 10-20mm Sigma which equated to 16mm in full frame (35mm) terms. But it is a superb lump of glass. Grasmere from Brackenfell 6 Simply can't go wrong from up here. Grasmere village and the mere, with Silver Howe behind and the Langdale fells further behind. Just wish the conditions had been clearer. But not to worry, can always try again next year. Might have lost a bit more weight so the climb will seem easier! Brackenfell to Alcock Tarn The last piece of relatively level ground for almost a mile and a half. The gateway to Brackenfell and eventually Alcock Tarn and from here on it gets steeper and steeper. Robin Another very quick 'grab' shot, very tight crop from main image. Only about 10 feet away and the little feller wouldn't wait for me to change lenses. Most inconsiderate I thought!
