We have snow kissed mountains and a dry valley (just how I like it). In fact, the snow is down to the outskirts of the town, the houses built in the higher elevations have been dusted, but the rest of us and our roads are free from the white stuff.

Ruth- I believe it rained last night, in Surprise at least! Hubby was more excited than me to see the rain! I have absolutely loved this weather, it is a miracle in the AZ valley to have such British type weather in the middle of April 90 degrees!  It's funny how cold, cloudy, damp, windy weather gets me out of the house and raring to go!! I just wished the rest of summer would have some breaks in the heat like this. Only another 7 months to go before it gets back down in the 90's during daytime hours!! Oh we do get some relief during the odd day or two in July/August - monsoons - but humidity in 110+ heat is a killer!!

Hi Dee:  Yes, I agree, summer here is unbearable.  But that's the tradeoff for living in a place where you get as excited about a rainy day as they do about a sunny day in England.  In PA where I'm from, and NJ as I'm sure you remember, you can go for days and days and maybe a week or two without ever seeing the sun.  That gets to me after a while.

Its is wonderful the way the weather affects us differently.  Yesterday late afternoon we had one of our terrific thunderstorms and it has rained non stop since then.  Although the gardens and the dams really need it, I want to hibernate.

I love the SUN. I have got so used to it shining 90% of the time, even when it is too hot, because it makes everything brighter and lighter.  This overcast, dark, wet and cold depresses me - it would be a definite problem if I ever come back to England permanently!!

Same here, Cathy.  But if I had to opportunity to live in England, I'd love to do it for at least a year to experience all the seasons.  We've been there is summer and fall, I think I'd like to try spring next.

It's sunny today with a slight breeze and about the mid 80s F.

I had to laugh when I saw the UK weather forecast said it would be warm at 17oC.  We are cold at 18oC today!

It's all relative to what you are used to isn't it?  We are wrapped up in our winter clothes, with the heaters on.  Are you are in summer clothes with maybe a jersey in the mornings and evening?

As a comparison:

today in Pretoria overcast, chance of rain 18oC high, 14oC low and is  Oxford, overcast, chance of rain 17oC high, 06oC low.

I expect yours is a warm Spring day, and ours is a cool autumn day!! Smile

Snow, again. I know it's not unusual to have snow in April, May and on the rare occasion, June, but it gets so tiring. I just want a little warmth.

Come to the UK. Rain is forecast for this afternoon, but it is warm at the moment. Lol

Last week was so hot down in Cornwall, not a spot of rain. We took our coats in case, but got fed up dragging them  round with us.

The weather is just wacky anymore!! Here....in Upstate NY and Vermont they got about a foot of snow!!!! That was the begginning of the week.

Here in NJ we had frost warnings with temps in the morning in the 20's and 30's...fire warnings...and now on Sat and Sun it's going to be in the high 80's!!!!
