And is this how you treat old friends in Wheatley? Brrr I feel a chill at such hospitality. Had nice weather until today, It was cold until afternoon and heavy clouds. I fear for the Clematis vine we planted out by the fence. I'm praying it lives. Most expensive plant I've ever purchased. I'll kill it if it dies lol. (Actually there is a guarantee on it). May I ask a question Sue? Why did you leave England to move to a barren desert only to freeze in winter and burn up in summer? |

Ron Brind Posts: 19041 Joined: 26th Oct 2003 Location: England | Posted at 08:22 on 2nd April 2012 And now after two weeks of 23c we are going to get more frosts, snow and rain (at last!) although we start with a blue sky and the sun shining today. Beautiful England but the weather (frosts in particular) really does do lots of damage to the fruit tree flower that is already in bloom! Make sure you look after our fruit CathyML LOL |
Linda-mary Sigley Posts: 195 Joined: 27th Jul 2010 Location: USA | Posted at 20:30 on 2nd April 2012 We get our winter fruit from Chile except for citrus which is harvested during the "cold" weather also we have delicious ripened avocadoes in spring (alligator pears?) 35 miles due south of here there are avocado orchards. But that short distance away we cannot grow the trees. Calif. is loaded with micro-climates. Sunny, finally after many dismal and rainy days. Today danger of frost is over and out go the tomates! Expecting 4 heirloom tomato plants in the post. Also a corkscrew vine. This has been your update from the Inland Empire as it is referred to here. What "empire" pray tell? |
