Edward Lever Posts: 734 Joined: 22nd Dec 2005 Location: UK | Posted at 09:29 on 1st May 2012 I agree with you, Ron, it seems bizarre having a hosepipe ban when the rivers are overflowing and the swans' nests are in danger of being swamped. However, it can take a long time for the aquifers to refill, and here in the Chilterns, much of the water comes from boreholes deep in the chalk. If the water in your part of Oxfordshire comes from a river, then I agree the ban seems crazy, but I guess it has to be a general ban because of the different water sources. |
