Hi Linda-Mary....wrong type of rain apparently! Our rivers are bursting, the fields are flooded, and still we have a hosepipe ban!

They really are a bunch of jokers!

It's absolutely throwing it down again here in Oxfordshire. 180 river warnings throughout the UK and still a hosepipe ban, a joke if it wasn't so serious.

I agree with you, Ron, it seems bizarre having a hosepipe ban when the rivers are overflowing and the swans' nests are in danger of being swamped. However, it can take a long time for the aquifers to refill, and here in the Chilterns, much of the water comes from boreholes deep in the chalk. If the water in your part of Oxfordshire comes from a river, then I agree the ban seems crazy, but I guess it has to be a general ban because of the different water sources.

Don't know specifically where we get our water from, probably a Welsh reservoir!
