I guess I will start with a bit of an update about my findings. I did make a connection to a frequest user of Pictures of England which was great. Turned out to be my mothers cousin. We knew of her but after mom grew up and moved away from home she lost touch with her. Leslie (moms cousin) was a big help to my mission, and was able to share more with me regarding the people of my family. A location has been found for the earliest Wickens member of my Family, who was William Wickens (B: 1810-D: 1889) from Kent Co. England and his wife Mary Ann Whiteing (B: 1814 - D:1896) who was from Sussex England and died in Ivanhoe, Ontario Can. They had 15 Children. It has been an interesting journey and I'm sure there is more information out there and I'm always interesting in recieving. I had actually joined the Ancestory.com site which gave me quite a bit of info but i only have a limited subscription to the site, so I'm not able to access all the information. Anyway i just thought I would bring you all up to speed, Thanks to all of you who tried to give me a hand. Happy Holidays! |

I have alot of ancestors recorded from late 1700's to late 1800's but my direct line (Joel Wickens born 1780 Brimpton m Dinah Barlow 1805 ) came to Canada in 1826. Are there any ships logs online from that year - or for my Samuel Booth m Elizabeth Whitehead family who also came to Canada circa 1842? ...I could go on and on, but will stop there - Thanks!!! |

Unfortunately I don't have the membership that allows me to see the documents. If that sounds like something you are interested in, I suggest that you do. I was able to print off copies of stuff like you wouldn't believe when my membership was active.
Good luck! |

Sure would be nice to get over to England one of these years! - Good luck with your Wickens search, we seem to be from different parts of England but probably somewhere WAY back we're related! |

I'm going to check that ship guide! - I know my immediate family came to Canada in 1836 but I haven't been able to find a record of the ship/voyage. - and it's good to know there are still Wickens' around in England. My family seemed to all be around the Brimpton Berkshire and Monk Sherborne Hampshire areas in the late 1700's and early to late 1800's. One day I'll get there to check things out!! |
