Of course, it might be good to see what Chris and Sarah have to say about it as they would be the ones to keep count and send out the prize money.

I'll start it with £10.00 tonight - that is number one, and so I won't be winning £100.00 but lets be fair about this Chris and Sarah have got to receive the cash first, and it would need to be sent without telling everybody in the thread. Chris and Sarah would need to keep an eye on donations and only let the forum know when the £100 was paid out. That seems fair doesn't it?

I just assumed they would be happy with that Diana, but you are right we need to get their opinion.

Well, a £10.00 donation won't break the bank, even if Chris and Sarah decide against the idea, so I am in!

Having only recently donated, I say leave the system the way it is. It is obvious to me that Chris and Sarah have thought about the donation system and felt that this was the fairest way. Those who can afford it will no doubt give more than those who can't, but should not be thought any more or less of as a member.

As for Google purchasing POE, I don;t know what would happen, there are many other photo sites and forums out there, but I do not know of any as friendly as this.

Realy who apart from C&S, would want to buy a bunch of loony's like us lot ?  Undecided

Wow, they'll be flooded with money now!!! we'll all feel guilty and cough up money!! they'll be driving new cars and holidaying on Necker island before you know it!! Laughing  i am joking don't worry!!

Lol Smile That's a nice vision Jason, but in reality i'm sure we'll still be driving down to Weymouth in our Robin Reliant and putting up our mouldy tent in the rain.
The good news is - we've managed to stop the mould from spreading with Milton Sterilising Solution! so we get to use it again next year.
Seriously, we don't own a Robin Reliant, but the rest is very true.

Regarding donations, we are truly very grateful for every one, nomatter how small, as they have helped carry this site through some difficult times lately with the ever increasing hosting costs which even with the donations are a constant struggle to cover, but without them it would simply be impossible to keep the site going. Further development is the answer and introducing a system to allow members to sell their images through the site (from which we'd take a commission), but with the hosting using every penny from the site at the moment, there is absolutely no money left for major development such as this (though some development is taking place, though only minor).
But don't worry, we're not about to abandon ship, we love this site more than anyone, and we love the community that's evolving here, and we'll continue to look for ways to secure its future. In the meantime any help from any of our members is gratefully appreciated.

PS we were highly embarrassed when we put the donate button up, but unfortunately it was and still is a necessary step. As always, thanks for your continued support.

Chris & Sarah

LOL @ Chris and Sarah!!! It's nice with all your concerns about the site that you can keep your sense of humor you two!

Seriously though, the two of you have made this little family possible and I am sure I speak for all when I say, I don't know what I'd do with out it! POE has become such an important part of my life, it's like getting up in the morning and saying, hello sweetheart, hello kids, hello cat, hello dog, hello POE!!! You can't say one without the other.Smile

Your hard work and loving support of the forum do not go un-noticed. Thank you POE!!!Kiss
