Friends,

The idea is to brain storm ways that POE might be able to fund the operating cost of this site that we all love so much, not to try to guilt anyone into doing more than their financial situation allows.

I haven't met Chris and Sarah in person but I think the last thing they would want is for this to turn into anything ugly.

Fellow members/users of POE. Most of us are probably suffering hardship right now, so I felt it was important to follow up on what Diana has said above. Yes POE needs donations to help develop the site, but there is no way that anybody should feel the need to no longer be part of the site, because they are unable to make a donation at present. That would actually have a negative effect on POE, so don't even think about it! Therefore, can I leave it like this, if and when you feel able to make even a small donation, it will be greatly appreciated. There, now carry on enjoying POE!!

Sorry you thought my comments weren't worth thanking for Ron.  I guess 4 years of driving around the south of England to get pics for missing areas on the site didn't cost much in petrol;  nor did over £10K worth of camera gear bought to take them, as Nikon & Canon don't exactly give rheir stufff away.  I guess this is the part you didn't understand that alomsot 500 photos weren't done for free by donations to me but by working  100 hours a week.  I'll start removing them soon.

Wow, they'll be flooded with money now!!! we'll all feel guilty and cough up money!! they'll be driving new cars and holidaying on Necker island before you know it!! Laughing  i am joking don't worry!!

Lol Smile That's a nice vision Jason, but in reality i'm sure we'll still be driving down to Weymouth in our Robin Reliant and putting up our mouldy tent in the rain.
The good news is - we've managed to stop the mould from spreading with Milton Sterilising Solution! so we get to use it again next year.
Seriously, we don't own a Robin Reliant, but the rest is very true.

Regarding donations, we are truly very grateful for every one, nomatter how small, as they have helped carry this site through some difficult times lately with the ever increasing hosting costs which even with the donations are a constant struggle to cover, but without them it would simply be impossible to keep the site going. Further development is the answer and introducing a system to allow members to sell their images through the site (from which we'd take a commission), but with the hosting using every penny from the site at the moment, there is absolutely no money left for major development such as this (though some development is taking place, though only minor).
But don't worry, we're not about to abandon ship, we love this site more than anyone, and we love the community that's evolving here, and we'll continue to look for ways to secure its future. In the meantime any help from any of our members is gratefully appreciated.

PS we were highly embarrassed when we put the donate button up, but unfortunately it was and still is a necessary step. As always, thanks for your continued support.

Chris & Sarah

Thanks a lot Ron! I think your greed has gone too far. Now members are hurt by your words and lack of words. I hope you are proud of yourself! I am very ashamed of you! You just could not let Sarah and Chris handle this!
