I wonder if anyone has any suggestions for a good place to spend the Christmas holidays for a single in the UK. From Christmas Day to New Years

Hi Colleen.  I think if I had the chance I would head up to Scotland, at least for Hogmanay.  I would want snow and roaring fires and hot punch! But I know that others on POE will give you more definite possibilitiesSmile

Yes my thoughts were to head up to scotland I have driven up as far as Plockton through the highlands and stayed at Duncraig castle it was where Hamish McBeth was filmed. I dont know if you remember the reality show The Dobsons of Duncraig the family started out as one and sometimes as is with family one after another left and they sold the castle recently. when I stayed I was the only guest and it was a windy rainy dark night in October some spooky it was. The only thing I thought of if I went to scotland and drove what the driving conditions would be like. Also could I wing it and just stop and get a place to stay as I go along or better to book ahead. I like to just take off and see where I land up. I am a Canadian living in the UK so distance does not mean anything to me. Regards.

Oh, I don't know.  I think when Americans envision an English Christmas, they think a lot about the lovely historical buildings and country cottages like you have there, Ron.  And a little snow is always a nice touch, although not as heavy as the storms you had last winter.
