You're very likely right about the Shirelles as I had a suspicion the Beatles had picked it up from someone else as a number of their early songs were. You're right of course about Paul Anka; an early Canadian singer/songwriter who did very well. |

I think Lorne Greene was a Canadian radio announcer before he got slightly more famous as Ben Cartwight. Gordon Lightfoot, another. I know the name of the song Ruth, but can't recall who did it; I shall ponder then kick myself when I remember.... Or another---who played the guitar solos on early Beach Boy records; Stood in for 6 months on a tour with them as a Beach Boy too, then became quite famous in his own right---clue Ruth; think of Arizona towns in one of his songs later. |

As for Arizona towns, I can only think of 3 songs that have AZ towns - By the Time I Get to Phoenix, Route 66 and Take It Easy. |

Winona and Kingman are in AZ too, Paul. Haven't a clue, Paul on the Beach Boys. It couldn't have been Glen Campbell. |
