I'm not a huge fan of chocolate but I like these puds, especially the spotted dick one with custard lol

For our American friends, a Spotted Dick is a steamed suet pudding with currants.

Who wrote and first sang these once popular tunes, but was NOT the person who made them famous?
Hush

Written by Joe South; recorded by Billy Joe Royal before Deep Purple recorded it and showed how it should have been played in the first place, imho.

Very good Paul.  I have been a fan of Joe South since I was a little girl living with my mother in Atlanta.  He lived just two blocks away from us, though I never met him in person.

I loved his music and I was always surprised that his music was made popular by other artists because he has such a nice voice.

A bit before your time Diana, but my favourite Joe South/Royal production was Down In The Boondocks when it became a hit.

Gary Lewis & The Playboys had a number one hit in the US that was, oddly, never released in England. Which song was that?

Yes Diana--the one and only J Lewis, and here is Gary Lewis & The Playboys with their number one US hit in 1965--This Diamond Ring.
