I would have thought it was Frankie Laine--he always sang the best western songs Smile

The best instrumental version of Ghost Riders In The Sky has to be Hank Marvin & The Shadows.

Speaking of Johnny Cash---in his song "I've Been Everywhere", what road does he start his journey on? Clue--it's in Nevada, so Sue H should find this a doddle. Smile

Krissy- head further north, but this question is right up She H's street, so to speak. I think we're all going to be wrong with Ghost Riders--time will tell--but in the mean time, here's The Shadows live version of it, though the studio/CD version is way better http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7_Gxoa2lqk

And check out the Related----Apache;  the film showing no less than Jet Harris on bass guitar. How do I know this, Krissy?  I listen to a lot of music, as many do.

Okay folks; Ghost Riders in the Sky most popular version for many many years was by Vaughn Monroe. I tried to find a youtube recording but there aren't any!

I was totin' my pack along the long dusty Winnemucca road,

When along came a semi with a high an' canvas-covered load.

You've got my husband to thank for that one.

I didn't realize we were famous enough to be in a Jonny Cash song.

The song' I've been Everywhere' was written by a New Zealander in 1959 and was originally about places in N.Z. It has been recorded by many artists over time.

I've Been Everywhere Man

music Geoff Mack, words Geoff Mack and John Grenell

Adapted by John Grenell, then known as John Hore, from the original Australian version composed by Geoff Mack, and made popular by Lucky Starr

This version lets you see some of our outback roadtrains.
