I loved the version from the film 'Elvis - That's The Way It Is' (1970's?).  What a great performer he was!

I know I opened this thread, but I just don't get the time to follow up anymore. Love all your posts fellow members, some really interesting information so here is another one to be going on with. Who sang 16 Tons? The lyrics probably apply to lots of us right now!!

By the way Alan, I do see your comments but like I said don't get a lot of time now that I'm busy 'Modratin' as Denzil might say, so take this as a 'I haven't forgotten you Alan'. There you go, there's another...how you doing Denzil and all? Oh there's loads to speak to and all, so how about hello to you all dear friends, yes even my mate Peter!

I also hope that the ladies with their own problems in the forum (you know who you are of course) can at least manage a smile whilst enduring a difficult time. God Bless you all, we will keep you in our prayers.

Tennesee Ernie Ford did one version, probably the first.  I believe it was also covered by a gentleman called Frankie Laine!
