This morning I saw a little flock of about six Anna's hummingbirds all chasing one another around the neighbor's tree.  They look like a little swarm of bumble bees and they have that very distinctive little chirp.

Probably a family chasing each other around, as they are not a sociable lot.

And wow Shirley, that's quite the report.

I have a dead Starling on the lawn that I must remove. The next door cat must have got him.

The Hummers are at my feeders, but not allot of anything else.

Hi Sue.

We had a bit of decent weather today so I visited the Washington Wetlands Centre. Apart from the usual wild life there, I saw, a pair of Willow Tits, a couple of Shoveler Ducks, female. For the first in this area, a Little Egret. I have seen these near Falmouth in the past, but never have I heard of one venturing this far north. There was also an interesting battle between two Water hens who seemed fighting for the affections of a female. I thought it would be a bit late in the season for that type of thing.

Photos of the Shoveler, Egret and Moor hens to be submitted soon.

Regards Roy J.

Oh Willow Tits, I haven't seen them and their look-alikes the Marsh Tits these last few trips.

Looking forward to your pictures, Roy.

And Wolf, you are naughty  .

Sorry Sue, "Why for you laugh"?

At lunch time today a Crimson Rosella sat on my verandah and sang  a most beautiful song to my aviary parrots.

I just Wikied the crimson rosella, Wolf.  They're awesome!  We used to have thick billed parrots in AZ, but they've been extirpated from here.  I had a pair of peach faced lovebirds in my trees 2 winters ago.  A pair must have escaped captivity a few years ago and they have been fruitful and multiplied, sometimes to the detriment of the native birds.  I love them though.  They're very cool to see.

We've got blackbirds galore in the garden.

My wife took this pic of them fighting a while ago.

WOW!

That is one fantastic shot. Maybe POE can make it appear in the thread, it's really wonderful. Oh, and be sure to submit it to the site.

I'm looking forward to seeing your and your wife's pictures.
