Roy Jackson Posts: 231 Joined: 17th Feb 2007 Location: UK | Posted at 01:35 on 30th July 2008 Hi Sue. We had a bit of decent weather today so I visited the Washington Wetlands Centre. Apart from the usual wild life there, I saw, a pair of Willow Tits, a couple of Shoveler Ducks, female. For the first in this area, a Little Egret. I have seen these near Falmouth in the past, but never have I heard of one venturing this far north. There was also an interesting battle between two Water hens who seemed fighting for the affections of a female. I thought it would be a bit late in the season for that type of thing. Photos of the Shoveler, Egret and Moor hens to be submitted soon. Regards Roy J. |
Wolf Posts: 3423 Joined: 9th Jul 2008 Location: Australia | Posted at 01:45 on 30th July 2008 Just down the coast a liitle from where I live there is a small nudist beach, and on certain occaisions Blue Tits have been seen on the sand, and White Pointers in the water. |

We used to have thick billed parrots in AZ, but they've been extirpated from here. I had a pair of peach faced lovebirds in my trees 2 winters ago. A pair must have escaped captivity a few years ago and they have been fruitful and multiplied, sometimes to the detriment of the native birds. I love them though. They're very cool to see. |
