It's a bit late in the year for swallows Lyn. My guess is starlings, some migrate and some are resident here. Jays are such beautiful birds, we have a definite lack of them in my area. Keep your eyes out on the berry bushes everyone, you might just see a waxwing, it's that time of year now!!

Yeah, I guess you're right Andy. It is October after all. It being a little warmer here than there, we still have a few migrant birds flitting though, but even our Swallows and Swifts are gone.

They arrived quite late this year and went late too. I've had the morning off and popped down to the next village, Ellerker, for a little wander, as you do. I've seen a buzzard, 14 long tailed tits flocking with numerous bluetits and great tits, a linnet (gorgeous but camera shy lol) and a yellow wagtail. I love these crisp October days! I was very surprised to see a small tortoiseshell butterfly and a couple of common darter dragonflies, especially as we had a frost last night. A trip to the wetlands is in order this weekend, weather permitting....I think there's a good chance of seeing some fieldfares and redwings, not to mention the elusive kingfisher I've been trying to photograph all year!!!!!!!! I will get him eventually!

Oh goodie! I can't wait to see what you and your camera catch. And if you see any tractors ploughing fields be sure and snap one or two for me.

I was in England this time last year, oh how I love the Autumn too.
