Many years ago in Scotland , a new game was invented. It was ruled 'Gentlemen Only...Ladies Forbidden'...and thus the word GOLF entered into the English language.

History buffs can visit famous General Stonewall Jackson’s resting place in two different places. Most of his body is buried under a monument in a cemetery in Lexington, Virginia. His left arm, however, is buried at the site of the battle of Chancellorsville in Fredericksburg, Virgina. It was amputated on the battlfield after Jackson was accidentally shot by his own men.

Nicholas Breakspear wasn’t a relative of William Shakespeare, but he did have his own claim to fame: He was the first Englishman to become Pope.

The Death of William Wallace.

Wrapped in an ox hide to prevent him being ripped apart, thereby shortening the torture, he was dragged by horses four miles through London to Smithfield.
There he was hanged, as a murderer and thief, but cut down while still alive. Then he was mutilated, disembowelled and, being accused of treason, he was probably emasculated. For the crimes of sacrilege to English monasteries, his heart, liver, lungs and entrails were cast upon a fire, and, finally, his head was chopped off. His carcase was then cut up into bits. His head was set on a pole on London Bridge, another part went to Newcastle, a district Wallace had destroyed in 1297-8, the rest went to Berwick, Perth and Stirling (or perhaps Aberdeen), as a warning to the Scots. Edward had destroyed the man, but had enhanced the myth.

The Vikings used a means of execution called the blood eagle . It involved breaking the ribs at one side and pulling them out of the chest so that they looked like spread wings . Then they pulled the lungs out . And then for good measure they would sprinkle salt into the wounds .
