Sue/Andy.

Many thanks for the conformation re the Sanderling.  I bow to your superior knowledge re thses matters.  It's one more bird to tick off in my book, only about a million to go.

Thanks again and best wishes.

Mistlethrush.....saw one today, when did you see one last? I actually started a new thread before I thought about this thread, but I guess it will have the same result.

Here's a picture (not mine) of the species that showed up in my yard this afternoon.  Peach faced lovebird. From what I gather, a pair of them got loose somewhere in the southern US, probably Florida, and they have been fruitful and multiplied, often to the detriment of native species. They have a very distinctive song, so as soon as I heard them, I ran outside.  I usually get them in Jan-Feb.  It's very cool to look up in the trees and see a bird that looks like that up there.  I guess I'll have to keep my camera at the ready.

Wow, this thread was really buried.  I found it on p. 19 of Off Topic chat.

Denzil and I just got back from our walk and saw 4 species of doves, mourning, whitewing, Eurasian, and Inca; got dive bombed by two northern mockingbirds, and (of course I didn't have the camera with me, Yell) a flock of about 8 peach faced lovebirds (see 2 posts above).  The whitewings just returned North from Latin America where they winter.  I'll be out there earlier tomorrow to try and get a picture or two.  The one in the posting above is from Google images.

Nice list, Shirley.  Sue's in Oregon right now.  She'll probably give us an Oregon bird report as well.

As for you, Bob, you didn't mention Krissy or Shirley or me.  What are we, chopped liver?  lol

Methinks you need a good field guide with shorebird species.  Wink Kiss

Today I saw, in Delamere Forest, blackbirds, thrush, robins, gulls, sparrows, crows and down in Whitchurch, Shropshire, I actually took a photograph of pigeons I don't know why! There were also housemartins nesting in the eaves of an old Tudor house.
