Indeed he did, Shirley. I thought the same thing when I heard it; may he rest in peace.

He's with his 'Angel' now, and I'm sure is as happy as can be.

Paul Harvey use to "honor" an family relative of mine every year that was dear to me in ways, we use to write each other constantly in comparsion to others, Frank and Florence were my Grandfather's brother and his wife..and Paul Harvey use to cite them yearly as the longest married couple in the United States. They passed away in thier mid-90's.and Florence told me they married when she was 14 or 15 years old...and he use to say..and that was the rest of the story. They had been married longer then my parents lived to even exist. Frank ran an gas station in the middle of town there in the mid-west, but situated on an highway.. and farmed a bit on the side, while my grandfather took to "trucking"as did his son's also ..though today's generaiton is into many things..one went to college to learn computer programming for agriculture needs...another took over the small trucking business my uncle had when he had his heart attack, and there's one working two farms..last one is in Colorado doing something,..dont' remeber. They listen to Paul harvey back there every hour nearly...just to hear the "rest of the story".

 Socks.jpg picture by inklingslover

BALTIMORE — Socks, the White House cat during the Clinton administration who waged war on Buddy the pup, has died. He was around 19 years old.

Socks had lived with Bill Clinton's secretary, Betty Currie, in Hollywood, Md., since the Clintons left the White House in early 2001.

Currie confirmed Socks' death Friday evening and said she was "heartbroken." She did not give details, referring calls to the Clinton Foundation office.

The foundation released a statement from the Clintons:

"Socks brought much happiness to Chelsea and us over the years, and enjoyment to kids and cat lovers everywhere. We're grateful for those memories, and we especially want to thank our good friend, Betty Currie, for taking such loving care of Socks for so many years."

Socks had reached his late teens _ an advanced age for a cat _ when reports surfaced in late 2008 that he had cancer and Currie had ruled out invasive efforts to prolong his life.

That was sad to hear, and I'd only been reading about him last week and the years he spent stalking the corridors of power in the White House. The above photo seems to have been taken while he was appealing to the cat in the street vote, and his promise to ensure the Dept. of Fisheries would get a quota of tuna set aside for them. Then he was working with the Dept. of Health on his new program of his War On Mice, the cornerstone of his election campaign.

George Harrisons death left me very sad.Without them the Beatles were more like the 1910 Fruitgum Machine.

Perhaps better known as The 1910 Fruitgum Company.

Sad to hear that Natasha Richardson died after a fall on the skiing slopes.  And to think that right after the fall, she wasn't feeling too bad.

Paul, you look adorable in your picture.
