Our wonderful NHS - NOT!

As many members will know I have been suffering immense pain for many, many months and on medication that would fell a horse. Despite my GP asking for an urgent appointment (twice in fact) at the Urology Department of the Churchill Hospital in Oxford, here I am 6 months later still without an appointment! Well, let me clarify that, I have been offered three appointments and ALL have been cancelled and re-offered for a later date! Today, I have taken the bull by the horns and created a smell that won't go away unless I get seen forthwith. I am fed up with the lack of service in our so-called NHS Primary Care Trusts funded by this nasty Government. Has anybody else experienced this sort of nonsense?

How about this members, I have just received an email response from the hospital which starts Dear Carolyn! Get this NHS Primary Care Trust, my b****y name is Ron! They go onto say that they don't know why the appointment is taking so long to arrange.... Grrrrrrrh! I'm not letting go this time, watch this space!

I wish you luck Ron. But unfortunatley the NHS is a very stubborn slow moving animal. It gets very frustrating working for them believe me!!

I'm pretty sure that the NHS as we know it won't survive for to much longer now the way its going!

One of the problems seems to be the massive cost of healthcare nowadays, things used to be cheaper to treat, where as now most treatments are far more advanced, so cost a huge amount more. eg, heart attack, if we thrombolyse a patient just the 1st shot costs over £700, thats just a tiny part of even just the pre hospital care!! you can imagine the full cost of just one heart attack for 1 person.

Saying that a lot of money is then wasted, also there's a lot of very bad management, which can become top heavy, and lead to a lot of waste, and terrible decisions been made. And of course delays in treatment is the outcome!

I do wish you luck Ron unfortunately you sometimes need to push them about a bit to get some service.

I am sorry to hear about your pain Ron. It is unfortunate that you have to resort to such measures to get seen.

Can' t you go into emergency...it now costs me $3,000 every time I have to go in for an "pain" of any kind, cough or cold, or flu bug...over the counter medicines are something else I can' t take with these heart medications....I generally go in at least once every winter since the heart operation and even at that we still have 20 per cent of it coming out of our pocket, just like the $800 an month for the heart meds, we still have to pay 20 per cent out of our pockets for that also. It's an bunch of bull, when one visit there equals an month's wages practically. We got one of our scout father's, well, his son's just left having completed scouting and he has opened up an clinic based on Canada's health system, because so many people here don't have health insurance with their jobs any more...he's an doctor. Neighbor across the street works at Providence Hosptial as an Cancer techinician and the other neighbor across from her works at Kaiser hosptial as an nurse I guess. Becaue of the cost, I generally wait until I can' t take what ever is bothering me any longer, before committing myself to care these days. Sad to say. I'd send them an special delivery telegram and see if things changed any...maybe they just don' t care any more..there's an lot of people out there in the world you know.....Hang in there best you can.  I can remeber an director nurse's that said as long as she worked in her job, there would be no one under her in pain.....as she felt it very unnecssary these days with so called "modern medicine".  It's been amazing what I've been reading here lately about in Adult stem cell research going on..it includes England also, Growing replacement livers or kidneys. They test me constantly for it with the medications I take. Kind of sad they are that strong to begin with and/or needed to be that strong. I've got an sore throat the last couple of days. He changed me on different medicines again also this next month...heavy does of Vitamin B3...(Niacin) still trying to bring down the trygicerides, and most if it's because I eat to much,,,point blank.I go at food like my sister in-law goes at wine...she's doing that I think to keep from having to take "warafin" for her heart also possibly.
