I always liked it, cause they have modern bathrooms, w/ showers, picnic tables, little grill stove things, small man made beach area that is roped off for swimming area, hiking trails, restaurant, (pool table?) , fishing, boat sailing, and then Hot Springs is right close if you decide to go shopping, and then there is the duck rides. It's a boat/driving mobile, that takes you for a scenic drive, there are lots of rock shops, Bath houses. Mid America Museum, (science museum), & lots more to explore. It’s so relaxing until it comes to stern parking then I become the joke of the waterways lol apart from that it’s a great way to just get away from it all and see places that you can’t get to by road. |

As you say, stern parking is tricky unless you have twin engines. the thing i love about boating is that you can motor slowly past a heron standing on the bank and be close enough to reach out your hand and touch it. Whilst a lot of these animals are frightened of humans, they don't associate a slowly moving boat as much of a threat. If I was so inclined, I could have dined on heron quite often, when I had my boat. ( Are they tastier fried or boiled?) |

Yes, Krissy, I've been to the Jersey Shore, but never boating, only beach bumming. But I do love it. The ocean is always so warm there in summer, You may be surprised, but Arizona has the largest population, per capita, of boat owners. There is only one natural lake in AZ, but the river systems have been dammed creating many wonderful lakes, like Lake Mead, Lake Powell and Lake Havasu. We have all those wonderful canyons and often the only way to see and fish these lakes is from a boat. There are 4 lakes within 2 hours of Phoenix, along the Salt River.
