Also, I went to school & more or less everywhere else on my bike, so bus fares didn't come into the equation. My first job, in September 1963 brought me over £24 a month before deductions to my keep etc, which seemed like a lot until girls and beer arived in my life! When I started work She Loves You, by a local group was number one in the charts. The week I left that job the same band was still topping the Hit Parade with Get Back, but of course, you never can.............. |

It was in 1963 that I saw an imported LP (album) in the windows of NEMS in Liverpool by Chuck Berry with a cover laden with strawberries, and I really, really wanted it but the pocket money had not filled the coffers enough. He certainly had wonderful lyrics in his songs like "motorvatin' over the hill" etc. Great stuff for old guys like me still. Walking in Memphis was a hit for Cher and earlier by Marc Cohn. "'Everybodys Got To Learn Sometime" was a hit here by The Korgis in 1980 and in 1994 by Yazz. I have the Korgi's version and Memphis Tennessee by the Chuckster in my collection. Can'y play the Korgis anymore as I have no record player! Anyone recall who sang Alice's Restaurant Massacree?
