We use to have "POE-ria Restruant" for an time last year...what did we do "branch out" some?..must of been successful. Or was it more of an "Pub" kind of thing..... I can remember contributing daily menus to it back then....you all know my massive cookbook collection.

Looks delightful, Rob.  Ron, next time we come over, you'll have to take us there.  Smile

Barbara and Krissy, we get our Cadbury's at World Market too.  I like the chocolate caramel digestives you can get there too.  Although I don't know why on earth they call cookies (biscuits) digestives.  Sounds medicinal, maybe to keep you from eating the whole pack.  lol

Ruth, I think they are named Digestives due to the make-up of the biscuit. Its an old recipe that uses fibreouse cerials i.e., wheat etc which is high in fibre and helps the diguestion proccess

the above post should read Andrew Sachs, Diane. He was in the news of late last year as the victim of Jonatan Ross and Russle Brant prior to them being suspended by the BBC for sending him damaging e-mails on air

Lancs:

The "he's from Barcelona" was Basil Fawlty's excuse to his guests whenever Manuel did something wrong or inexplicable. Example: "I'm so sorry, he's from Barcelona."

As you pointed out, Andrew Sachs, who played Manuel, was born in Berlin and later became a naturalised British citizen following his family's escape from Nazi Germany.

Cadbury's, a real old english icon Barbara, started (and still is) in the west midlands (cue Stephnie) by a wealthy family who cared about his workforce that he built a lovely town around his factory to look after then. You can visit the site today and watch (and taste) the chocolate products being made. Unfortunatly the company has just been bought out by the American food giant 'Kraft'. Hope they maintain its product and history.

Been up to the old eyes in work Michael - still am!! I was pretty gutted that Cadburys has been bought out. We have 3 family members working there. You are right about Bournville too - a really special place amidst the sprawl of Birmingham. I went to Bournville School of Art for 2 years - such special memories.

Sounds like everyone has been having fun - yes I'm in - I'll do the accounts and tax returns!
