Heard the Cuckoo today for the first time this year. The Cuckoo is about a month late so does that mean we get an extended summer? Should be 'singing his tune 'till the middle of June and then he flies away'....but he hasn't been here 5 minutes!!!

What do you reckon members, a long hot summer?

Oh, I'd love to be up Shotover right nowl listening to the cuckoo.

I think the earliest I ever heard one back home, was the 16th of April. Or was that the earliest I saw a hummingbird over here? Oh well, something like that. So they are late if today was your first day to hear one, Ron.

Keep a keen eye out for them, they don't like to be seen, just heard.

As you know Sue the Cuckoo is normally here 24th - 27th April so very late. Oh by the way Sue, Shotover is really green and pleasant right now....he, he...just to make you feel really sick! Lol

Don't envy you planting out those 25 trays James...I can feel the pain already! Lol

Maybe Simon & Garfunkle's song April Come She Will was about cuckoos???? Sounds so similar to Peggy's words......

 April come she will

When streams are ripe and swelled with rain;
May, she will stay,
Resting in my arms again

June, she´ll change her tune,
In restless walks she´ll prowl the night;
July, she will fly
And give no warning to her flight.
