Might be interesting for folk to post details of  the first car they owned and the year they owned it.

Make model and year.

Include picture of the car, if available,

Memory will probably fail me when it comes to dates, lol.  Our first car when we were married was a Bubble Car - Isetta I think - with three wheels (4 if you count the steering wheel lol).  Had to gain access to the interior by opening the front of the car!  It started of a dark green colour and turned white (premature aging, lol).

Details like make, model, year would have to consult the other half (I think that is a man thing!  Any ladies want to prove me wrong).

This should be a very interesting thread Terry.

My first car was a Ford Poplar 100E. Paid £199.00 for it and thought I was the tops! Any car over £200.00 was guaranteed (until you got it off the garage premises) for 3 months! Needless to say it wasn't long before it conked out and I was lifting the engine out via a rope over my shoulders having undone two, yes just two engine mounting bolts.

We had to grind the valve's in didn't we in those days and when the engine was replaced ( a new engine that is) we had to 'Run It In'. I remember very well writing out a notice for the rear window that said 'Running In - Please Pass' .. Ah, those were the days!! Lol

My first car, a 1938 Morris 8 Tourer, owned from 1957 when I passed my driving test in it, swapped for a motorcycle and side car in 1962.

The car is still on the road and owned by person in Essex who bought it in 1967.

This is the only surviving picture I have, taken in 1958.

(Picture submitted, awaiting authorisation)

My first car, 1938 Morris 8 Tourer, taken outside Hayes Community Centre in 1958. Only surviving picture I have of the car. Notice no crash helmets required in those days.

fancy having this thread to-night after our little mis-hap to-day.               on the way home to-day my wife who was driving started off from lights and the vehicle in front stopped suddenly we could hardly see for the sun and just clipped the chaps tow-bar,no damage to his but a new right hand bumper is needed.   may be costly.

Sorry to hear that James, it is easily done, locally we have a company called 'Little Knocks' who specialise in repairing those little 'dings', a lot cheaper than main dealer repair shops.

Maybe you have similar near you?
