I know a forum can't really be a home but the people I've met here have become important to me. I may not speak to everyone on a daily basis but they are all close to my heart. POE really has changed my life for the better. I do go to other sites but they are quite scary, truth be told. So much drama and back stabbing and pettiness. I've never seen that here. (well, once a long time ago but that's water under the bridge). I do wish we could all get back together and have fun they way we did. I miss Jason, Cathy, Sue, Ruth, Rick, Bob, Diana, Paul, Peter, Ray, Maria, Peggy...but that's not to say I don't enjoy the company of those here are here now. I'm rambling on now...but I just had to say it.

Sk Lawson Posts: 4014 Joined: 7th Oct 2010 Location: USA | Posted at 02:10 on 16th January 2011 Helloo everyone....finished off my book...the gal was saved, they found her father's labratory in an old cave which was Jules Verne's inspiration supposedly for his book on the Natilus, or Twenty Thousand Leagues under the Sea....plus the remains of the 1035 viking settlement..her father's estate was built on top the old settlement. The bad guys...as they all are got killed or commited sucide when caught and prosecuted.. before they could lose what they considered was there monopoly they were trying to form that was illegal..and what they were after of her father's was that he had developed not only engines for ships that ran off water...but he had learned how to make an telatransport system...yep it took them time but his breif case was the end receiving station...so exactly everyday at 4 pm it filled with oil...in thre cave sat the oil hoked to the time machine. The book ended with two young kids coming to our hero's door..he finds out is his true blood children by an woman he deeply loved and thought had died in an explosion in his earlier life..she had the kids and lead an completely paralized life raising them...she had just passed on telling whom thier father was and to go see him. Quite an book. Well, Jim Berkland was true to his word also...and in came his news letter for this month and with it his next year's tidal information for his earthquake windows. Plus his review of last year..he wanted me to see that also last night...and he's right...we had an tremedous amount of 7 plus magnitude earthquakes world wide. I first was drected to meet him in his web site probably about 15 years ago..give or take...so we have known each other for some time. He is an world traveler though...so it's hard to catch up with him at times also...between radio appearances and what-not. We just went through his first mega quake window he's ever issued...we had four of the 7 mag variety during that time. I guess you have to like science and be an "lightworker" to be into this for so long. I have no idea when I will be able to post in his web site again..but I'm aboout to sit down and write him an letteer tonight...he wanted to know what I thought of this month's information. Other then that...my son came over and we finally got all the Christmas decorations back up in the attic..so it's inching closer to painting time people. I had an little set back last night on the shingles going away...slept it off pretty much though. I can truly say that I feel like the year has really started now around here. We are suppose to have our turn at the heavy rain...thought they think execet for the small creeks and rivers..the major ones should be no problem. I think they projected on the NW side of Mt. Hood 3.27 inches of rain starting tonight and into tomarrow...but only showers after that and an day of nice weather also...so it won't be continual rain. We have an nice crackling fire tonight to make us feel comfy.Sooo...enjoy the weekend everyone! |

Further to the posts from Beth and James above : There are so many "views" on the forums and relatively so few replies, that I wonder if people are too shy to participate and leave a comment! Alternatively if the problem is insufficient interest in the Thread subject matter then we could perhaps find a way for suggestions to be made for new/different topics for discussion. Maybe if we could all think about ways to encourage greater participation in the forums (instead of just Beth & James beating their brains out, lol) collectively we may come up with a solution? For those who are reluctant/unsure/reticent about joining in the threads perhaps they would be more comfortable emailing Ron directly with suggestions for discussion topics or just to let us know why you don't join in. (I would also be happy to chat to any of you). Having said all that let me wish everyone on POE a wonderful relaxing day today |

All our circumstances change on a daily basis. Seasons, vacations, illness, work, social events, shopping, family/grandkids etc so much to distract us and maybe some quite literally don'y have time 'at the moment' to join in knowing they will 'later'. However, we also know that somewhere in excess of 22,000 people look at different pages of POE every day! That's quite a figure to be proud of and clearly they must like what they see, but in the event some are not able to start a thread, yes do as CathyML suggests, email me and I will set them up......Ron(at)picturesofengland.com I honestley believe the day will come when suddenly hundreds, and then tens of thousands, millions will join POE and then we will all be looking back proudly saying hey, I was there at the beginning! Have a great day all, and to all those looking in without registering or commenting, what are you waiting for?

Sk Lawson Posts: 4014 Joined: 7th Oct 2010 Location: USA | Posted at 22:35 on 16th January 2011 Ron,...Jiim Berkland was telling me that he still has some of the two hundred fifty plus people in his web site also, but only an small handful of people posting...maybe 5 ro 6 most the time. When I joined this other web site I go to...it was all but closed up...though bascially its four of us posting daily...we have over 600 viewers since when I joined it. We talk about everything...or I should say I do. People are these days literally tongue tied except for small talk...and people come in and they see...well, they aren't talking about to much and leave I think. The fighting an controlling of people on the net has all but shut it down, not to mention other factors like the Government watching what they say intimidates them...and the deameaning of others going on ...people get tired of it. It's not very interesting when people spend all thier time fighting, o rtrying to pick one.. an not sharing information to learn..and it gets hard for an few handful to keep up the posting also. I bet you when Prince William and Kate marry that POE will pick up more as we can discuss what their plans are..if they release them that is... ahead of time. Rather they actually do them of course is up to them. But it gives others something to talk about... and its happy news for the most part. Off Jim Berkland's web site came the web site "earthboppin" and on the main pageof it.. below you'll see several other web sites has spun off Ryan's (earthboppin) also. So people are out there. |

I think what Ron says is very true. Our circumstances change on a daily basis in this fast-paced world and sometimes people may not have the time to participate in the discussions on the Forum even if they want to.I myself have not been able to look in much lately although I love this site so much.It has given me so many new friends and generated a keen interest in photography.Of course for me there is another problem.Due to the difference in time no one seems to be around when I look in.:-) Anyway have a great day everyone! |

Ted Posts: 733 Joined: 14th Jan 2009 Location: Netherlands | Posted at 10:41 on 17th January 2011 Good morning everybody. Blue (even Black) Monday today. According to statistics the most depressing day of the year. All to do with bad weather / low motivation / failing of your new years resolutions end of christmas period etc. But, as we used to say; there are small lies, big lies and statistics. So don't be depressed, treat yourself to a yummie slice of chocolate cake and make it a great day today.
