Sk Lawson Posts: 4014 Joined: 7th Oct 2010 Location: USA | Posted at 03:55 on 18th January 2011 I'm kind of so-so on facebook...it didn't bother me to see her mother's old gang on it... as they played an game an compared notes...that was all gals..but then hispanic dudes were popping in asking question to information... I felt my grand-daughter shouldn't be giving out...didn't like it. She is 12 years old..to young for guys in my estimation...I told her mother whom found ways to keep her from using the computer for an bit..at oen time they grounded her off it for an month.. I thought that an good idea. Others kept asking me to join "My Space"also...but then they up and said most the low class thugs in town were on it also. I can' t particualrly say those I knew acted that way...but whose to know who all others are in their household. I think of your open and honest...then you shouldn't have to worry about others you talk...and that is the way it should be. The net's prime goal at the beginning was to share information with each other. When "spirit-web was in operation...we could post messages and post private messages also...at the bottom of the thread also...anyone could review the posted messages...but not the private ones. It worked out just great until those demeaning others started fighting with each other...and then took on the webmaster and she closed down the site...she felt when her posters no longer respected her authority.. over themselves... it was time to leave. which was sad...as I learned an tremedous amount of information from everyone and many had talents in differrent areas. The talk there could also be casual as well as informative. It was the biggest worldwide site on the net at the time...sad. Only us good people were the ones to suffer, the others went on to other sites to pick fights with people there. I took today off from starting to look up the paint brushes and what not today...see all the news on this weather the last two days...we had 7,20 inches of rain...and other 2 inces from snow melt in two days...it came down the mountain (Mt Hood) after they closed ski lodges as the snow up there turned so slushy they said it was impossible to ski...and roared down the Sandy River. Like an heavy rapids. It tore out huge tall trees in it's wake...making them into as they said "torpedos" when they hit anything. An section of LOLO Pass road near welches, Oregon became the river...stranding about 40 t0 50 people on the other side and taking out 2 homes...and the reason I mention this road is because it was an original Native American sort of highway from the Clackamas River to the Columbia River at one time and is mentioned in Lewis and Clark's Diary of thier travels in finding the Northwest passage with their Corps of Discovery team..The area is still very sacred to them even today. Anyway...15 homes are still in dange ralong the river...about 150 people in all affected...those behind this road washout have no power or services and the forrest service and highway dept are up there trying to makeshift an road for them to use.You can see pictures of some of it by going to the photographs at our news station kgw.com on the net...or Katu.com... But bascially everyone is still digging out today..and river levels are falling now. Washington was hit harder near Seattle on thier rivers...some of them are still under flood watches...you don' t have to worry about going to the coast as it's roads are closed in several areas from landslides. Two people killed by an tree as they were doing utilty work on an power line in Washington State reported. Most of us that knew this was incoming simply stayed at home. One guy up at Mt Hood near the river said he heard boulders being moved around in the swift water that sounded like thunder as he laid in bed....saying his prayers. 24 hours of an bit of excitment...depending on where you were at. See why I stay home an read books after Christmas? |
