I have two:

1. Spiders and Bugs: I am absolutely irrationally terrified of them!

2. Open Heights: to the point that I have an almost uncontrollable urge to jump when confronted with open high places! Very scary indeed!

I don't think it's irrational, more of a full blown phobia of people or things in masks or full body costume (where the face is covered or altered).

Makes me sick to my stomach and light headed.

Can't even look if its on the TV, and run a mile if its in real life.

I think an irrational fear I have is that people I meet won't or don't like me, as its not justifiable.

No i don't have irrational fears, mine are totally rational, lol.

Lifts - I was stuck in one alone for several hours then when they got the doors open I had to jump out while it was halfway between floors!  That's a big dark drop down the lift shaft!

Fire - I was on the top floor in a burning building and managed to get out. On another occasion we experienced a run away bush fire which swept through our farm like an express train.

I think that makes them rational fears, don't you?

Lol. Yes, Cathy, I believe you have bonafide reasons for your fears. :-)

I, however, do not. I can not tell you why I am so terrified of spiders, bugs, or heights. But I can tell you that the overwhelming desire to jump when confronted with open heights is very disconcerting!

Apparently Diana that overwhelming need to jump has an explanation.  Something to do with the air thermals/currents created in those "high open-air situations does have a "pulling" effect.

I also experienced the same thing for the first time while walking along a narrow pathway with a sheer drop down to the river and up ahead was a waterfall.  Apparently the falling water creates air turbulence which causes this "jumping/falling" sensation.

But someone with a more scientific mind could probably explain it better.

But it seems to me that there is a rational explanation to that fear!Smile

Interesting, Cathy! I did not realize that. I'll have to do some research. :-)

Hair. I hate hair...doll hair especially. Never played with dolls and hate to touch other peoples hair.

Also, fire, heights (I have the urge to pee when I am up high or see heights on TV)
