It's a hymn more than a song, but I can't stand 'Rock of Ages'. Its such a dirge. I don't mind reverent hymns, but this one is more like a death march.

I have to agree that Rock of Ages is one of my least favorite hymns. Give me any hymn written by Ralph Vaughn Willams or just about any traditional Welsh hymn--sung, preferably, in Welsh! Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah (Arglwydd, Arwain Trwy'r Anialwch) sung by Bryn Terfel is a real barn buster!

Rob, did you ever hear Lark Ascending by Ralph Vaughn Williams? It is my most favorite piece ever!

Absolutely one of my all time favorites--England in a song! You should also listen to two more of his works, Dives and Lazarus and Flos Campi (my favorite classical piece of all). Have you heard his Sinfonia Antartica (Antarctic Symphony)--very powerful and brooding.

Do you find your taste in music changing?  There was a time that I couldn't stand Abba, and I don't think they were every as big in the US as they were (are) in Europe.  But now I think they're great.

Correction: Five Variants of Dives and Lazarus.
