You know, James, I think the best way to learn your country's history  is from the perspective of what people in other countries are taught about your country.  I think each country, no matter how free and open, makes sure the youth are educated in the version of history that the government wants, so that we'll think it's glorious.  It's especially true here.  Education is sorely lacking of how shamefully American Indians were treated when America was settled.  I was never taught that in school.  I only learned it once I moved to Arizona and became friends with people from the Navajo and Apache nations.

the reason children of to-day dont study history and geography  is because it isnt taught in a lot of schools --and half the teachers dont know about english history,i think these two subjects should be compulsary.

I agree 100 percent, James.  Mistakes can be learned from and some old wisdom can be passed down.  Another thing that's going by the wayside nowadays is spelling and grammar.  Children coming up today are only going to know how to spell in Text.  BTW, IMHO, that's not a good thing.  LOL!

A lot of schools have also stopped teaching cursive handwriting.  How on earth will people ever develop a signature if they don't learn cursive?  Will they simply "please print" when they have to sign a document?

You should of heard the things they will becoming out with by the year 2100...twas on "coasttocoast" the other night.. and eye.lens so when you greet someone, you will  get an instant profile and picture of the person..plus if that person talks an foreign language it will be automatically translated so you will understand it.We will have personal computer "butlers" by then also...and be able to raise and move things with another eye lens..flying/floating cars. We will be able to "Materialize" some of the things we need by then also. I like the idea of sitting in your chair and being able to shut off the beeping microwave simply by "thought".

Something weird for you people...they call it an work time waster...every year we have an pair of red tailed Hawks come back and make thier nest and hatch their chicks and raise them by nesting on an downtown fire escape..local TV station and the Portland Audubon society hooked up an Cam so you can see them live thier daily lives..as of Monday they laid thier second egg to hatch...and they said..sometimes what you see them eat is not to pleasant...as they are wild birds...in nature "doing" thier thing...but if you'd like to take an peek,,,tune into kgw.com/lifestyle/raptor-cam. Over there you might have to add the http://www. first..play around with it an see if you can get to come in for you.
