Cathy, think I did say before that I am not "Up North" even if the county is called Northamptonshire !  We are in the void known as the Midlands.  This means certain things :

(1) We do not have north or south culture, many say we are simply devoid of culture !

(2) I will not post a photo of myself in a cloth cap.

(3) We do not sleep with our ferrets, in fact we are ferret less !

(4) As Arthur Daley would say, "I am not a proper person", as I come from  south of the river.  In fact the south coast so I am not really a Midlander.

(5) The term "its grim up north" should not cause you great distress if you ever travel north of Watford.  Many of use do cope with life.  Its not really essential to take a bottle of pills and launch oneself in to the canal !

For more info on "Up North" ask him with the camera, he says he is from Hull.  Its only the middle of June so he may still be outside shoveling snow, (or racing his pigeon), thats if they are getting any daylight today.

Going for dinner now, tripe, YUK !  Never mind, stiff upper lip, tally ho,  helps if you are barking mad here !

I really don't know what to say Mick, except you're not far from wrong. just about to leave work now so I'll think of some suitable responses on my way home and if I have time after shovelling the snow, that is if it stops raining, I'll let you have them later. I don't have ferrets but we do have a family of squirrels and also a family of foxes in the park behind our house. Can't say too much about Northamptonshire as I have a auntie who lives in Duston. Mind you I think she needs her head examining cos she used to live near Kirkby Lonsdale which is nor for from the lakes. Talking of which 2 weeks and 2 days before we go to Ambleside.........I'll have my laptop with me so will still be touch with you all

Dave, counting down the days !  something to really look forward to.  I do know Duston, not sure if the famous Timpkin bearing factory is still operating.

Hull must have some good points ?

Polar Bear Street, Penguin Cirle, Eskimo Ville!    Laughing

I was born in the West Riding Mick, not far from Uddersfield (lol) but while I was still tiny the family moved to Hoylake in Cheshire and then we moved "down" South to Surrey.

My Dad likes tripe and onions but there was no way on this earth that I was going to eat it!!

Nice looking car MIck..tell us how well it does in it's gasoline mileage some day...looks like its big enough to hold an lot of cameras in an little trailer you can haul behind it also.

Your problem with "North" is well explained in our area with Altitiude..anything over 3,000 feet. Now I've got to admit...I've built and watched being built many an "snow cave" up on Mt. Hood with the Scouts. First thing I learned was that your roof must be sturdy enough to allow the occasional skier going over by mistake....and the second thing is to be sure an seal the cracks with an melted candle if it's above ground. Third thing is there are plenty of nice motels and an resort nearby if all fails. Oh, one last thing....the Girl Scout lodge is near by and they have quite an huge lady that takes care of the girls...she looks "threatening" just smiling...not the kind to tangle with over anything. OH,,,and let me forewarn you in advance...never try to go to the potty house if there's an temporary "white-out" in weather conditions going on....you may be lost and/or die....before it's taken care of properly. 1,000 feet less atlitude makes all the difference on the Mountain.

Hoep all are having an good day...you get to see this June 15th Eclipse. Hope the weather is good enough you can do so.
