Thought we could just put the fun exchanges between members on this thread.

So to start the ball rolling (oh dear another cliche!) how has everyone spent their public holiday/memorial day?

I was just watching "Last of The Summer Wine" and laughed myself silly!! Was the "Really Masculine Men's Purse" episode. I haven't laughed like that at a show in ages!! Laughing Otherwise getting more unpacking done, etc.

Having a great laugh probably did you more good than the unpacking today! Wink

As usual spent at work as Bank/Public holidays don't exist with my firm. But, you can apply to have one off----say for some reason you might want Xmas Day off----if they allow it, it'll be given as part of your annual leave.

Ouch! That's rough Paul.  Does it mean you get paid double time for working the holidays?

For the first 6 hours is double time tonight; from midnight when it becomes Tuesday, it reverts to basic rate as Tuesday isn't a Bank Holiday. Of course, Fri/Sat/Sunday are all normal working days so never have any enchancement whether doing days or nights.

I really hope there is some other compensation in your job - like enjoying what you are doing - because I don't think it can be for financial gain?

Started with a bit work I had brought home to do as it needed peace and quiet. A bit of banter with you guys. Watched the original version of ' The 39 Steps' Robert Donat and Madelleine Carrol, absolutely brilliant. Took the wife to work, popped in o the office for an hour or so to get things done to save a bit of time tomorrow, (I work with the Dutch and they don't have the holiday today). Got home 1630 ish and started the banter with you lot again. Just uploading a few piccies as we speak. Nothing startling. Got the Michael Caine 'Italian Job' running on the TV. that's it upto now. Quite a busy day for a so colled holiday!!!

Last of the Summer Wine.!!!..now you are talking sheer brilliance there. Roy Clarke is one of the best 'gentle' comedy writers we have. It was, still is in fact, the longest ever running comedy series in British TV, maybe even further afield, but I'm not sure of that one. Anyway you have really good taste in your choice of comedy. I would love the complete set on DVD, but then I would never be away from the TV

Is it just me or does F1 now seem to be rather "artificial" with the "when DRS can be used" rules ?  I watch it but now prefer the tin tops.  Sorry, not really about the holiday. Spent today watching the rain and playing with computer !

I started the day talking to my very own soldier boy in Korea. I miss him so much!

Followed that up with cleaning, cleaning and more cleaning.

Hubby is working, so tonight, after he is home, we'll have a family dinner, and remember those of our loved ones who served, and died. I have two uncles who died on the Somme, in WW I.

It breaks my heart to hear of our boys and girls who are dying now, because I personally see it as a senseless loss.

On Friday, while attending the funeral of a dear friend, we took time to visit my Father-in-laws grave. He served in WW II, and the grave of our young niece who died in a car accident, and are buried at the local cemetery.
