Oh yes, Ruth...I know what you mean about the swimming pool, you need about two or three days depending on the size of it... to make it really nice to swim in...which is nice in the evening, when the stars are out. Then you stay under the water as much as you can up to your neck to stay warm.  I don't miss having our pool....it was an object I think everyone else used, while I got stuck cleaning it all the time. Back then with no local park here, the little kids really needed something of the nature to keep them entertained in summer. By the time they were into 7th/8th grade it was beginning to be an thing of the past and we needed the boat for teaching the scouts to water ski so we went that route instead. Now the boat is going to be for fishing hopefully...by next summer both hubby and I can have our free "Golden age" passes....he has his now. It's all set up now..he starts his first retirement check this January...he will still work "part time" but as far as I know now, he plans on taking off the entire summer next year.

Sounds like a great plan, Shirley.  You guys deserve a break, and some relaxing time to yourselves.

Yeah, he don' t realize it but his leg injury has him looking like he stands on his leg with his knee straight down and the rest of his leg is off on an angle. He wears loose jeans so you don't notice it as much, but I think I agree with you we both have worked an lifetime and could use some tmie to ourselves relaxing an watching others do things in life...taking it an little easier. When the Social Security lady asked him if we were diasabled....we said, well not offically as yet...but we are getting there. He wears an leg brace for Scouts now and I simply don't go to many of their activites any more...esp those very far away from anywhere. He plans to work his sit down "inventory" and office job through fall, winter, and spring until he turns 70 years old if possible...or if we ever win that dang blasted lottery that never has seemed even close to winning so far. We could use the money to buy the help for things we cant' do by then. Not that I'm not constantly "cutting back" on things though...to lighten the load of work around here. I really need to get rid of the carpeting for wood floors right now.

Sounds like a plan, Shirley.  We got rid of our carpeting for wood floors about six years ago.  The house is much easier to take care of now.

Yep, took over the big daddy fryer tonight and the bread machine to the kids. I don';t fry much of anything these days. But I did send along some flour, some oil,  some huge onions and some chicken fingers and sweet potato french fries and told her start practicing on it....little at an time.  On the way out there, we saw two deer standing at the road, if he's stopped the car I could of probably touched them. Use to see that all the time when I was an kid, but hard these days. They were up an bit from an draw with an creek between two houses. Looked like fairly young does. Folks out there refer to them aas thier "resident" deer and actually try to help them survive an bit. They have open ground in some areas, forrested in others, cattle in the pastures, and long distances to fences. I wonder what these means for this winter also...as htey keep themselves pretty well hidden most the time. I like deer, they have such gentle faces and big brown eyes. Peaceful and quiet also.

Correct, Ron.  Did you ever have sweet pototo fries (chips)?  They're to die for, aren't they Shirley?  We went out for dinner and the restaurant served them with this most delicious dipping sauce, it was creamy and sweet with all the pumpkin pie spices in it - ginger, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg.  It was dreamy.

As for the weekend, where'd it go?  The world seems to spin faster on Saturdays and Sundays.

Ron, yep, deep fryer...she had an smaller one and burnt the top of it..it melted and welted...so I got this one last year but it's to date never moved out there with her..but she's got it now. Plses she borrowed my mixer..so I got it back recently also...which makes me happy, cuase I have all the attachment's to it here.  Ruth's sauce sounds great...most the time my sauce isn't...unless it's fat free thousand Island. When I do sweet potatoes it's surgar free maple syrup and as low fat margerine as I can find. I love the Lean Cusine Pumpkin Ravoli though...like it for lunch with an green salad. My foot bothered me today...the freezer wants to go out on me...well, that's not mine either...it's an old one the kids had, I'm taking it down to defrost it...and come about 2 pm hubby made me an Turkey TV dinner...but not much food... so late tonight when I baked the Sara Lee Rolls....I made him some chili with cheese melted over the top to go with them. He seemed to like that.I just get so terribly "Hot" during these attacks...my skin iterally in some places turns red. Pain is severe enough..but I'm just broiling feeling. Then poof..everything goes back to normal. If only it would stay that way. I would guess that's when they are throwing out the "microwaves" in the area probably. I wish I had an area I could "escape" to when they do this. That's basically what it takes..leaving your house....taking your pets with you. But anyway. God's gonna get them back for it some day.for some reason though it's always in October they do such stuff also. I wonder if we'd have an "autumn" if they left things alone. Anyway..checking through the boards and then headed for bed an bit...got me new ear plugs to hear the radio on also this weekend. Maybe some hot chocolate to take with me and cuddle down an bit and read something...got the latest "Weight Watcher's" Magazine yesterday. Talk to you all later on...

The weekend is here again.

I have to wonder where the weeks are going, as the spin by so fast, I can barely keep up with what month it is.

Nothing going on for me this weekend, as usual, but next weekend will be different. YAY  !

Most of my weekend will be taken up with getting things organized for next weeks upcoming anniversary trip to San Francisco. The same old, same old, getting all the laundry done, food in the fridge for my youngest, who will be holding the fort here at home (and loving it, no doubt)

What are you all up to this weekend?
