Fact is Anna's 82 year Dad called us out couple nights ago in immense pain. We went to see him at about 10:30pm and he was in A&E via 999 at 11pm. We spent the night with him, meaning last night we didn't need any rocking!! He has responded to intravenous antibiotics and painkillers and will need a procedure to put him right, but he appears to be out of danger now. The PC did get turned on but only to make some very basic checks, and I am just about to start approving pictures again. Anna and I appreciate your thoughts, thoughts that keep the POE family meaningful. |

I am battling excessive rain and snow melt at the moment...street is virtually four small creeks trying to drain into not big enough drains...about all I can do is go out periodically and clean any leaves away from the grates....watch the access cross the road out front...trying to get to another drain somewhere....they should put in tow more from the looks of things...but we don't always have this much of an problem. When I went to bed last night an breaking news alert came in that an small creek had washed away two cars in an shopping center parking lot in Albany, Oregon...they were able to pull an man and his son out of thier car, the other car was swept away...they found the child's body this monring o fthe car swept away.. but not the mother as of yet. The creek is so high they can't even ventrure in it to look for the car. I expect tonight's news to be full of water problems here most likely..but they say..by Friday it might let up some. Let's hope so...they said perhaps an inch of rain todayin the Portland area, 8 inches south of Salem and 12 inches on the California/Oregon border...Washington State is not above freezing as of yet...still snowing there in SEattle to the tune of 15 inches, and we got the "Pineapple Express" or hurricane following our snow at at about mid-Oregon coast. Lots of roads shut down...lots of falling trees, now they are scared of avalanches in the mountains, and landslides also. Good time to stay someplace safe an protected until it calms down an bit. Best go and keep monitoring the street creek flowing out front right now. Talk later on. |

Hi everyone - life has been a bit hectic (in between the thunderstorms), but tonight it looks as though we won't get one (hope that is not famous last words!)

Sk Lawson Posts: 4014 Joined: 7th Oct 2010 Location: USA | Posted at 20:08 on 20th January 2012 Good morning....keep this quick today...my grandson was just delivered to me with an cut in his foot that is infected...and I have the other one to pick up from school today. Water is going down, but they think heavy rain will be returning by tomarrow. There was an candlelight virgil for the 18 year old mother and son that drowned from the car swept into an creek turned raging river last night...this is so sad...her young sister was just uncontrollably "crying" on the news last night....made you want to join her. The father made it out...but the son is still in ctirical conditon...he said she was his girlfriend apparently. He said that he entered the parking lot, ran over what seemed like an bump and all of an sudden was washed into the creek...it will have to lower to see if part of the parking lot was maybe washed out from the creek. I can not believe some of the heights this water went up...most crested last night or will today before more comes this way. Seattle is in pretty bad shape right now also...they stuck an yard stick and it nearly swallowed it up in an snow bank up there...they got ice on top of all this snow. They are still below freezing... this new heavy rain in unless they warm up...is going to be even worse. If your traveling so much and many roads and transporation centers are closed down, expect if you get there...you may be stranded here. Despite it all...people are pretty well emotionally handling things other then this sister mentioned above...but for anyone that has lost someone...there's that crying period you go through...she was so young at 18 years old. I go for now...glad I'm not having to be out in this today...I'm glad I don't take out my furnace grates in the floor to see water floating underneath also...except for the getting the kids out of school...or one of them now..bid yolu all an good day. See why they say to prepare for winter weather...it's always been good advice. |
