Sk Lawson Posts: 4014 Joined: 7th Oct 2010 Location: USA | Posted at 20:40 on 31st January 2012 You got to be kiddin..Ron..keep them coming...if you only knew what problems it is for me somedays to even get logged on my comptuer... Ok, sister in-law says she goes into surgery sometime this Friday or next Monday for an brain tumor...she says it's close to her "speech" center and something else...she was worried about that...I told not to worry...there was always "telepathy" and "sign language".... if not smoke signals. Two "puffs" means I'll be over in 15 mins...they are only an couple streets away from us. I have something to take to the hosptial for her...but dont' want to go myself...so it will probably be earliest Thrusday night I can get there. In the meantime...I called my sister....to find her fighting back tears as an friend she particualry liked in her ladies group keeled over dead yesterday. Sad day for her. So I told her that one day I got an letter from Florence Larkins...whom lived into her mid 90's...and with her letters she always told me the "News" going on back in Nebraska...and after grandfather passed on they stopped writing...I guess he was the reason they kept in touch....I understand... as we never grew up amoung them. Anyway....Florence said in her letter, Shirley...I don't mean to make my letters so gloomy sounding..but you will understand some day...at age 50..we start losing some of our friends and family...by age 60...seems it's on an roll in our lives to lose the closer ones we knew...by age 70 most the people we grew up with is down under now...and by 80 we find living ourselves an blessing...at 90...well, I patiently take each day at a time knowing... it could be my last. It's not in the dying...it's in the remembering.... that I'd like you to keep "alive"...while you can. It seemed to help my sister an bit, but she said she was "tired" and I know probably depressed...she said this gal was one of the happiness of the group to be around...she was 75 years old. Back to my "anti-aging" pills I guess. So..going on.... Three pyramid structures were recently discovered near Milan, Italy and it seems to be an thing these days in finding more common then thought around the world. Probably doghouse for the "dino"....no..I'm just kidding you all. Though I know we have an previous world era of cilvilization....so why not...rocks are easier to take care of then wood siding...and sure cost an heck of an lot less to maintain. One pyramid over there is terraced and growing an grape vineyard. If you get the chance...go to U-Tube Video web site and take an look of all the things they are making out of plastic soda pop bottles, from lights to solar heating panels o f all things. I'n still reading the books around here...here's one from the angel book..to be given away here soon to my sister in-law.. in my own words to shorten it down an bit...As adults we often are much to busy to hear the whisper of angel wings..the world's responsiblites seem to weight down down the aspect of "angels"...but children seem to be another thing. One three hour car trip last summer, my family was awed by the display of mommoth purple skies, and lightening strikes, as we hurried to get to back to our home. Meanwhile my yongest daughter insisted the sky was full of angels. "They are all around us" she said with her face full of wonder and delight. I assumed she was pretending the lightening flashes was the flash of angel wings. But when we arrived home, our trip uneventful and safe, we turned on our television and learned that tornadoes had touched down all around our route...15 o fthem in all. We had found an path safe through everyone of them apparently...that's when my little daughter said "I told you there were angels!" Well, I better get going for now...have an good day today everyone! |
Sk Lawson Posts: 4014 Joined: 7th Oct 2010 Location: USA | Posted at 20:03 on 1st February 2012 Well, now I know we have gone just plain" nuts" in this country...which has been pointed out by the "occupy" people for some time now...... on police being overly zealous in dealing with them...I think they have enough pictures of attacks by police on them to take it to their constiutional rights in the Supreme Court. Particuarly in California. So now it is...if you go to earthboppin.com read "phillip's" post...CBS news report....you can read of an young British couple whom on thier "twtter" post said they were coming to America to destroy it, and so forth and dig up Marylin Monroe. They stopped them at the airport...went through everything, including 5 hours of interogation...as they explained in Britain the word for "destroy" amoung the young kids was to "party"...that they would never hurt anyone...they got sent back to Britain by way of Paris instead... and this time around must get their passport from the British Embassy to visit "America" again. There is an woman here near by(Fairview area)...whose drunken son showed up on her door and he refused to leave when she told him to leave, she wouldn' t let him sleep at her house that night "drunk"...so she called 911 (emergency) and the police showed up..guns drawn....he went out the landing of his mother's apartment with an kitchen knife, from making an sandwhich...according to her...they said drop your weapon...they gave him about 5 seconds to do it.... and and shot him three times with their guns and killed him on the spot. She's all over the newspaper, saying that they also "lied" in the police report they filed concerning the incident, they were in no way threatened...being he was about 25 stair-steps above them on the landing....she said they never even gave him an chance to lower his arms and drop the knife...before they killed him. We need to get rid of police like this..the occupy people for some time have told us they are violent to them also. Kicking them, dragging them, and doing unneccesary things like pepper spraying for the least of actions....as if they feel they are an al scale out and out miltiary mob war going on. They showed them down in "Occupy LA" peacefully sitting, some with signs...lined up and sitting quietly in protest... when the cops came along and pepper sprayed them in the face, I mean up close also....that needs to stop. I honestly feel something was amiss in police actions. I find such actions as terrorist and miltant and not law abiding... in the case of the police themselves. You watch this summer, if we don't as citzens come to an blow over all of it in the streets. People need to use some better reasoning in their actions. I know the cops are afraid of being mobbed attacked...but they don't need to help it along in thought by their own militant actions. Some people say that the cops want this to happen...because it will be an political stragegy for Obama to declare "Martial Law" in our country.... to keep his role as President. So much for our already ill way of politics going on these days...sicko's. Our leaders are sicko's. We are having an difficult time escaping thier persecution...and obtaining our rights as citzens. To be street bound when your homeless and unemployed... is not out of the ordinary. Now..on the lighter side... True or False question.....During the reign of William III, a garden fountain was once used as a giant punch bowl. The receipe included 560 gallons of brandy, 1,200 pounds of sugar, 20 gallons of lime juice and five pounds of nutmeg. The bartender rowed around in an small boat, filling up guest's punch cups. Many years ago.... I use to have an cartoon clipping of "Garfield" the cat out front of an huge house, with an punch bowel over his head ...sitting in the fountain in the yard...with the caption below it saying..."Boy, does that Crazy Shirley ever know how to party!!" I use to laugh because back then we had an few parties here at my house, though never with an fountain in the yard. Answer to the question up above is..."True"...... Have an good day everyone!

Syd Harling Posts: 636 Joined: 21st Apr 2011 Location: South Africa | Posted at 19:13 on 2nd February 2012 Hello all. I haven't had a chance to call around for a while unfortunately. The wife has not been doing too well. In fact Christmas was rotten because she was totally without energy and by the 27th she was in hospital for a blood transfusion. She's doing better now and we hope she keeps going all right for a long time. We have booked to visit England, probably for the last time, for 3 weeks in June. We simply have to see the Jubilee celebrations on the 3rd and, of course, spend some time with the senior off-spring in London. We're planning to spend some time with a friend in Kent and hope to get time to travel around the south coast too. I have retired now and money will have to be carefully managed so overseas holidays will be difficult, not to mention my poor wife's ever deteriorating health. I hope all you POEsters are well and that those in the northern hemisphere are coping with the cold weather. Stuart tells us that London is rather cold right now so I guess places further north are even worse. Bye for now. Edited by: Syd Harling at:2nd February 2012 19:16 |
Sk Lawson Posts: 4014 Joined: 7th Oct 2010 Location: USA | Posted at 19:42 on 2nd February 2012 Yeah Sid...good to see you...it's terrible when the wifey starts deteorating right before your very sight. I thought an long time ago that an simple Blood transfusion from time to time would probably be an lot less $$$ ...then an expensive heart operation... to keep the arteries open. That's how I think Geroge Noory on " coast to coast"...524 talk radio affilates world wide).... met Dr. Christopher Wilde...he has heart problems also...and I guess...he goes in from time to time for an MRI and they look over his arteries as an preventive to another operation. How nice...my sister two days ago was welled up trying to keep from crying from losing one of their "ladies groups" members....she belongs to via the church....hasthe funeral Saturday...whilel we go tonight to OHSU for the sister in-law who stills doesnt' know if they arte doing her brain tumor operation Friday or Monday. Gee whiz, she just bought herself an new car couple months ago also....she's on unemployment too and is now wondering how she's going to pay her hosptial bill. Maybe set up an place people can give donations or something? She said she had no health insurance...like many of us these days. Cathrynml....Daffynition...."Aloe-vera"...Hawaiian greeting for the office secretary. I best get going....groundhog saw his shadow here this morning...and it's Feb. 2nd....6 more weeks of winter?....Feb. 16th go in for dental work..Feb. 17th my 46th wedding anniversary...and of course Feb. 14th is Valentine's day...getting off to an busy month perhaps...today was also my parent's wedding anniversary date and one year later tomarrow...they had my oldest sister...but she got her birthday cake last week. Things just going on as usual this year so far. Talk later on... |
