Just in time to help these guys out as I go into my writing mode also. I could use some of your expertise in "Art" and history of the past.... particularly in my research work on people...I was made to lose most of my work recently when I had to clean out my computer .I'll be looking for the people that guilted the major part of Europe in gold edged furniture during the Renissance era...and the people that mined that gold for them...and where. Also the early mining efforts over here in colonial America as well. Will alos touch upon European nobilty and the coming of it to Colonial America..as conditions changed in Europe politically...in reguard to our family lines in part...along with the Native Americans. Hope you had an good Christmas...I had an rip roaring one you could say with getting burned by grease...though I think I was really throwing out an entity in my house not favorable to us, my sister got hurt also, I told her to go downstairs and get some soda for me while I dealt with this and she came back having fell down in the garage, she has 3 lashes on her forehead above her brow, resemble claw marks kind of and two on her right knee ...something of an "holy" wizzard came out in me then. I don't know what happened last night but I had an dramatic healing episode again for some reason...I may be healed sooner then I think. In the meantime my grandson is in the newspaper this morning...and mention of his grandfather also..in reguard to the Scout Troop and it's re-cycling Christmas trees. Article appears in the Oregonian Newspaper ot Porltand, Oregon page A-5...Picture clips says...Nicholas Olmos, Colby Lawson, and Conor McIntrye, all 11 , all members of Gresham's Boy Scout troop 707, help compact trees into an trailer at their collection site in the Gresham Fred meyerparking lot Sunday. Then colby tells how they pack the trees inside the trailer to make like an "fort" for an wind break..and hubby tells later on that we have been involved in doing this for 23 years now. But it goes on to tell how there are 70 organizations doing this..40 of them Boy or girl scouts...and basically how doing this helps everyone touched by it...from summer camp funds for the scouts to churches that use the money for scholarships to their kids. Now we sell them for mulch..but before they started out in business..they sell to companies that burn the wood for electricity..we have used them for wind breaks for ranchers with livestock to protect them from northern winter winds out in fields near their barns, (helps to keep the barn warmer also) and also with the Forrestery Dept..in dumping them in Trilluim Lake.. so that little fish can hide from bigger fish and possibly survive thier habitat better. That part isn't in this article. When we started this some 23 years ago, we were the first in this area to do so. With others our profits are down to about half what they use to be...but we aren't greedy exactly. They ask for an $5 donation...but I was told yesterday that old scouts that have done it also growing up..and relatives...are sometimes giving them up to $20 donations. I think it's tax deductable anyway to the donors. But they know the money wis always needed for supplies besides just scout camp. Unlike most sponsors of the scout troops..ours gives us his name only..in backing us. When the scout headquarters foung out we were barely surviving..they presented us one summer precious camping kitchens for cooking... and updated medical supplies Many of our parents if they have the land..let us "camp" on thier land at times for scout outtings also. One of our previous "Eagle"scouts just recently did that for them this Christmas.. state.park camping fee's for the boys is very costly now..if they are not on scout owned property....with the economy here lately they have had to pare down and sell an some of their land recently also..such as "Triangle Lake" down near Eugene. But anyway...Oregon is the nation's top Christmas Tree growing industry... in the USA. We ship out about 7 million trees annually. Interesing article to read in general. I go for now, everyone have an good day!!!...Happy New Year!..Say there " brits"...start sending it our way also, since you'll see it over on your side of the pond... before we do here..."ring them bells"...and Big Ben too!..smiles* |
