--*We*ll I seem to have exhausted my decent Village Signs, I do not like the wooden type and some of the metal ones have some rust on them , but I have a nice one of HOCKHAM MAGNA but cannot find out where it is therefore can't upload it, I have looked on Google, therefore if anyone knows please tell me

It's been a pleasure to see all your signs Peggy.

Just a thought, there is a place in Norfolk called Great Hockham, Magna being Latin for Great or Large, maybe they had the village sign done in Latin ?

Just arrived back home from Ambleside, had a lovely time with brilliant weather. Didn't get chance to eat at the Amble Dave but we will be going back so I'll try it then. Had a nice trip on Windermere on the lake cruise, not one of the big steamers, just a cruise boat, then a small launch back from Brockhole.

Still loads of snow on the tops and some roads not passable, can't get beyond Wrynose Pass towards Hardknot at the moment, should be OK when you go Dave.

Had a good wander around Bowness, didn't have a go on the land train though. Also went to the NT run Aira Force, that was a nice walk, pictures to follow soon.

And then there was The Golden Rule, I've put a log on the fire for when you go Dave, that's if you can get near the fire, the place next to it was taken every evening by an eldery gent with an eye patch.

Really glad you had a good time Ruth. I quite like Bowness, the pub by piers serves the most azing value carveries..... And the old boy witht eyepatch in the Rule is a fixture i think, he's been there for at least 5 years that i know of. haven't done Wrynose and Hardnott foe many years, not since my cycling days. Aira Force was on my list for May but looking at how low the water is i may rejig that plan although the walk over Gowbarrow might just sway me. Only 3 weeks to go !!!!!

Thanks Cathy, yes we had a lovely time Laughing

Dave, I'll be posting some pictures of Aira Force (eventually) that will give you an idea what it's like at the moment. We were surprised at the low water levels, with all the snow melt we expected more.

The old boy with the eye patch had an old girl with him who was never out from behind a newspaper.
