Google has helped John, I cheated, all I thought I knew was that it was a Northern company.

It was founded in Chesterfield in 1903, then called The Cross Tailoring Company.

               Well here is my little problem for you to solve :-

         At around 550 fathoms I am the deepest --

I'm thinking along the lines of something like Marianas Trench in the Pacific.... the only one I readilt know but got a feeling it may be a bit deeper than 550

550 fathoms = 990 mtrs (1200+ feet) so I reckon that puts any of the British lakes out ofthe equation as Wastwater is the deepest at around 75 mtr, so we must be looking off shore
