As for picture comments, it is all too easy to make negative criticisms which might discourage people from pursuing their hobby. Generally, most people receive 4-star or 5-star comments on PoE, which seems to show we are a kindly bunch of people. Personally, if one of my photos has received a comment, I am grateful to know that someone else has taken the time to look at it and make a comment. |

I would not wish to rock the boat, as I know that POE has a policy of accepting everything, regardless of quality, providing the subject is of a location within the United Kingdom. Images which are in my view, not up to par, I just don't give a rating to. POE is a fine site for anyone wishing to submit images to. As a selling site, being open to all images, regardless of quality, might reduce the attractiveness to potential buyers, but that is probably not the primary aim of the site anyway. I agree, this seems to be the best policy regarding comments. It is pointless to insincerely praise a mediocre image, but posting a negative or unkind comment is equally pointless.

In future,I will be more self critical and selective. |

If C&S need to remove them okay, but they will do so in a way that doesn't create damage so please leave your pictures good or bad, because each and every one of them has knock on effects re any information available to the visitor. And of course they were approved in the first place weren't they? Remember please, this site isn't just about selling pictures, although I can understand that each member is probably critical of his/her own work and probably thinks he/she is helping to reduce hosting costs. That may well be the case, but at what cost elsewhere? Thanks for understanding |

I will take another look at my rejects and if I see any merit in them I will re-submit. I've always only ever submitted a maximum of two pictures in a day, in a real effort to be my own quality control. Maybe my standards have shifted over the years since joing POE. Time for me to "get out there" and capture more Pictures of England.

Knowing your work, Rod, I think you may be a little bit too self-critical. Your photos are always well-composed and interesting. Self-criticism is very deceiving. Sometimes I fall into the same trap. When I look at my photos some time later, there are some which I thought were good at the time and I now see as rubbish, and some others I thought were bad, seem not so bad now. Those pictures of yours, which you may not personally rate highly now, are certainly of interest to others, and as Ron says, removing them might cause problems to the site. |

You have a very fine photographic eye, as your pictures prove so I'm most flattered by your comments. It's raining cats and dogs here and it is tempting to turn on the lights despite it only being just thirty odd minures past twelve. The Nikon will remain dormant today I fear. |
