The first of my kind are believed to have been first used in the Paris area in 1653, by 1829 I was commonplace throughout France.

What am I ?

The first public ones were in Warsaw in 1842.

Post box it is Ken, the oldest example in the UK is from 1809 at Wakefield Post Office, it's now in display in Wakefield museum.

Here's another easy one.

What is the name of the Australian scientist who led a research team which conducted the first clinical trial of penicillin  on a patient and devised a method of mass producing the drug?

Well having a wild guess and limited French, it sounds like The Chapel in the Ferns, or Chapel of the Ferns ?

The other part of the question I'll have to think about.
