Yes Vince, plus other stuff, copper etc. You probably know South Crofty mine closed in 1998. I hear a rumour that it might re open. The Romans used to send runaway slaves who had been recaptured to the mines in Cornwall and Devon, it was considered the worst place in the Empire to be - very few survived beyond a matter of months.

Thank you Ruth, mind you the early days it would have been tin streaming but indeed it was one of Britains longest running industries. South Crofty is having a run of mixed developments and preparations have been going on for a long time now with management as the Canadian firm involved pulled out without warning and leaving financial issues. Plus the local council were far from helpful and wanting to flatten the area and build modern industrial units along with other redevelopment. And then there was the league of don't live in the past and we don't want all that noise and mess that goes with mining brigade - so the revival of South Crofty is a bumpy ride even though the deposits undergound is financially viable with modern mining methods.

One can live in hopes !

We call hitting the sack "going to bed" so those are the lines I'm thinking on John, I maybe totally wrong though. I'm guessing there may be a music connection though.
