When J.R.R. Tolkien wrote ' The Two Towers' , the second volume of 'The Lord of the Rings' , he drew inspiration for the caves behind Helm's Deep from some caves in a famous English gorge.What is the name of that gorge?

Correct. Well done Ruth.Cheddar Gorge is a spectacular ravine  and was described as a "deep frightful chasm" by novelist Daniel Defoe.

Sooty for the delay folks.

I'm not 100 per cent sure I haven't had this one before, but here goes anyway Smile 

I am the third of my type to occupy the site where I stand. I am a Grade II listed building.  I am 1084 feet tall. What am I ?

Correct Dave, Emley Moor is what we call it, it's officially called the Arqiva Tower - though I didn't know that until we were up there today.

....I forgot to add, it's the tallest free standing structure in the UK, 4th in the EU and 23rd in the world.
