I was just surfing thru the England in Winter picture tour and came across this one of John Ravenscroft's that I love.

And here,  Ruth,  is a wonderful  Winter shot by Colin of Roseberry Topping in Yorkshire: an old haunt of Captain James Cook (which has particular resonance for us Aussies!)

Thanks Diana, I'm glad you like him! That's one of last years pictures from the wetlands...he's still there and I've had the thrill of him sitting on my head earlier this year. I think we've bonded!! I know it was him because they are territorial and stay in a certain area, usually bordered by other robins.

The birds can remember when it was a runway Diana, now it's like an open field......strangely enough I have all sorts of things land on my head these days, it must be the shiny surface that attracts them! Last summer I had a chiffchaff (a small warbler) sit on my head for the best part of a couple of minutes and the Common Darter dragonflies love it too. I walked 1/4 of a mile with two of them on my head in August. Ridiculous but true!
