Last night I trawled though the photos that have been uploaded in the last month and considered the number of contributors and how long they had been members of POE. Give or take the odd person that I might have missed when I nodded off, here are the results: 106 contributors in total 33 contributors who have joined since 1/1/10 35 contributors who joined in 2009 11 contributors who joined in 2008 13 contributors who joined in 2007 6 contributors who joined in 2006 5 contributors who joined in 2005 1 contributor who joined in 2004 It was noticeable that a number of contributors were not resident in the UK and therefore their contributions were not likely to be too regular also I do realise that many members only contribute occasionally, but going on the above sample it does it suggest that we could do more to encourage more new member to stay with us? I belong to another hobby based Club which has more than 250,000 members and their research has proved that if a member stays on for a second year of membership then they are likely to stay for several years if not longer. Just another bit of useless info. About time I went out and took a few photos I think |

I dont get to take as many photos as I used to,but I hope to be able to get round a bit better soon. Then I may manage to take a few more photos. But at my age,it is a problem remembering where I took them. Lol |

If you work your way through the list of towns, historic buildings etc., on POE there are many that say they have no photos, why not go and take photos of them, they are likely to be quiet places because otherwise there would be lots of photos, and we will also get to see these out of the way places. I think also that there are lots more castles and manor houses etc., that we don't even have listed here, so there is a project, and you take such really good photos it will only be a pleasure to see them. How about all those who haven't posted photos in the last six months joining this quest to put at least one photo (but hopefully more) for every town, village, city, historic place on POE list this year. Then we can find the ones that aren't on the list!! LOL |

I think as with all clubs you get people who are all keen on something then dwindle off, those who are the main members and then get angry with other members then go, those who never really get the hang of things, those who just join to be curious and then the ones who are members for life. I am hoping to be the latter! Sue once said to me that people come and go but POE will still be there! I love doing that Cathy - I am always looking for places that are not represented by photos here - it is great fun! |

So, after your comments maybe I'll have to start believing my family when they tell me I've forgotten something. If I remember correctly I was of the opinion that both you and Stephanie
would be in the first half dozen to contribute to this thread. |

I signed up here in July 2007 but just to sign the guest book. I was on here almost every night that year just taking in all the lovely photos in anticipation of our first trip there, which we took in November 2007. That's how we ended up in North Yorkshire - I just couldn't get over how breathtakingly beautiful it was. But it was about 6 months later that I sent in some pics and joined the forum. And it's been a truly lovely experience. I've stayed around the forum because I've grown to know and love all the "regulars." This place is genuine. I had the great privelege of meeting Paul Hilton and Anna and Ron Brind in person this past summer, and they're the real deal, warm and welcoming and generous people I'm happy to call friends. I think I'm in for the long haul too, Steph. When I'm not around for any length of time, it's because of other commitments, but I really love it here. I'm not around for the live chats because of my work hours and the time difference, but I'd rather be here than anywhere else on the www. It's a nice way to unwind after a long day.
