Ruth Gregory Posts: 8072 Joined: 25th Jul 2007 Location: USA | Posted at 03:06 on 20th January 2010 We've got the storm now, Sue. Heavy rain. We had a total of 3.5 inches of rain in all of 2009, and they expect we'll get that much before the week's out. Sorry about the snow.

Ruth Gregory Posts: 8072 Joined: 25th Jul 2007 Location: USA | Posted at 03:39 on 22nd January 2010 Get out a map, Ron. BTW, have you ever visited Brind in North Yorkshire? Or maybe it's east Yorkshire, I know it's not too far from where Andy lives. As for weather, we are getting hammered with rain today. There is a skylight above my desk and as I type this the rain is pounding on it so hard I can barely hear myself think. We NEVER get rain like this. It rained all day today, about 2 inches total and they expect we'll get another 2 or 3 inches overnight. That means we finally have some water in our creeks and streams. Two hours north of us is Flagstaff at 7,000 feet elevation. They had 12 inches of snow on Monday, another 18 inches today and overnight they expect 24 to 40 inches more in town and 3 to 5 feet of snow at the bottom of the ski resort (Arizona Snowbowl) that lies just about 10 miles outside of town. We're hoping it gets cold and keeps the snow around for a while so it can melt gradually. This could get interesting. I expect Sue and Rick will be reporting in some major precip. And to George, perhaps it will be hitting you up there in Lancashire in about a week. lol

Not much here in our little rural town, but back in Reno. That means it's on its way, unless it gets blown to the south or north of us. I'm looking forward to our two weeks of Spring, probably around the end of May, beginning of June. |

A ton of rain as Ruth mentioned; more snow than what you know what to do with up Flagstaff----and photos on Twitter to prove it---winds in Tuscon up to 73 mph; new records set for lowest barometric pressures all over the place. All in all, not a particularly nice series of storms passing Arizona and parts of California getting clobbered too. |
